Who Was David Parton? Exploring the Life and Career of Dolly Parton’s Brother Amid His Death at 82

As a lifestyle expert who has had the privilege of observing and understanding the profound impact of family bonds in shaping individuals’ lives, I cannot help but feel a deep sense of empathy for Dolly Parton and her family as they navigate through this difficult time following the passing of her beloved brother, David.

It is with sadness that we report the passing of Dolly Parton’s brother, David Parton, on November 15th in his residence in White Pine, Tennessee. At 82 years old, David was one of Dolly’s eleven surviving siblings, which also include Stella, Willadeene, Coy, Robert Jr., Cassie, Freida, and Rachel. Regrettably, three of the Parton brothers – Randy, Larry, and Floyd – had previously passed away.

Stella Parton shared the news of her brother’s passing on X (previously Twitter). In her post, she said, “This morning, my beloved brother, David, passed away peacefully. It’s never easy to let go of a loved one, but now he has his wings and is at peace.” She expressed her sorrow on Facebook, addressing the online community that David departed during the early hours, writing, “Rest in Peace, dearest soul. I will always love you.

Without a statement from the country singer herself, her relatives have published an obituary for the 82-year-old individual. This document mentions that he was the second eldest in the family and held a significant role as a bridge builder superintendent at Simpson Construction. His career saw him contributing to numerous bridges in the regions of Kingsport, Johnson City, and Knoxville.

According to Farrer Funeral Home, he leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Kay; a close relative, Lucas; daughters Donna Parton and Dena Lane (Tommy); grandsons Jordan Bell, Jared Bell, Brody Lane, Randy Lane, and Taylor Lane; great-grandchildren Shadow Bell, Shayde Bell, and Ellie Lane; brothers Denver Parton and Bobby Parton; sisters Willadene Parton, Dolly Dean (Carl), Stella Parton, Cassie Griffin (Greg), Freida Parton, and Rachel George.

The funeral for Parton is planned to be held on November 19th.
