84-year-old Charles Scalies, famed for his roles as Thomas ‘Horseface’ Pakusa in The Wire and a former high school coach on The Sopranos, has sadly passed away, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In a nursing home in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, I took my final breath after a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. On May 1st, Thursday, as confirmed by my daughter Anne Marie Scaliues, I bid farewell to this world. My online obituary reportedly stated that I passed away peacefully.
However, among all his notable achievements, it was those particular ventures that stood out on his impressive resume. The actor’s passing notice stated that he first appeared on the big screen in the movie “Two Bits,” released in 1995, alongside Al Pacino.
Additionally, he appeared in various productions such as Monkey 12, Jersey Girl, Liberty Heights, and several installments of Law & Order.
Born in 1940 and hailing from South Philadelphia, this individual didn’t merely act for a living; he was also a seasoned professional, serving as the Director of Sales and Contracts at Clifton Precision. Subsequently, he established his own consulting firm, as detailed in the report.
As an ardent admirer of Rafael Alvarez, I’d like to share his heartfelt message to Scalies’ children on the virtual tribute wall: “On our very first day filming season 2 of The Wire, I found myself seated next to your father at lunch. Over time, he evolved into a cherished member of my family. With deep sadness, I say, ‘I miss you, Horse.’
I, myself, am primarily recognized as a devoted spouse, proud parent, cherished grandparent, loving uncle, and treasured friend. My most adored spectators have always been those gathered around our family’s dinner table.
