Who Stars In Jeff Goldblum’s Kaos? Meet The Cast Of New Netflix Series Ft. Harry Potter, Jurassic Park Legends

As an ardent fan of Greek mythology, I must confess that my heart skipped a beat when I heard about “Kaos,” the upcoming Netflix series. Having immersed myself in the tales of these gods and mortals for as long as I can remember, the prospect of witnessing their contemporary retelling is nothing short of exhilarating!

The conflict has started, and in its place comes a fresh Netflix production titled “Kaos”. This series, a unique adaptation of Greek mythology set in modern times, will debut on August 29. Featuring Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park and David Thewlis known for Harry Potter, alongside other talented stars, this darkly humorous show promises an exciting premiere.

This show, created by Charlie Covell, who’s also behind Chernobyl and The End of the F*cking World, focuses on six ordinary individuals who find themselves embroiled in a struggle against arrogant and malicious Greek gods. As they uncover their interconnected fates and a centuries-old prophecy, they discover more about themselves and each other. Judging by its trailer released at the end of July, the series promises to be dark and unnerving. Get ready to meet the talented cast members of this upcoming production!

Jeff Goldblum as Zeus

In this show, Goldblum portrays Zeus, the supreme deity among gods. Wise beyond measure yet merciless at times, he can also display kindness. However, he remains oblivious to a plot that’s brewing against his throne. This Zeus, with his penchant for grandeur and often seen in tracksuits, grows anxious when he spots a new wrinkle on his brow. He fears this small blemish might signal the impending fulfillment of an ancient prophecy predicting the fall of the Olympian god dynasty, which includes him.

To bolster his power, Zeus enters into strategic partnerships with powerful adversaries, often ignoring sound advice in the process, which leads him to make choices that potentially endanger all of mankind.

David Thewlis as Hades

Hades, Zeus’ middle sibling, is the god associated with death. It’s a family role to manage the living’s affairs. Among the family members, only Hades seems to truly heed Zeus’ prophecy and works tirelessly, never taking a break from his supervision of the Underworld. However, his efforts to help often result in unintended disasters.

Janet McTeer as Hera

As Zeus’ sister and queen of the divine realm, I, Hera, find myself entwined in an intricate web spun around the pantheon of ancient Greece – a family saga, you might say. Yet, the serenity that once graced our halls is now shattered, as my husband, Zeus, spirals into madness. I tread carefully, concealing a secret so perilous, if revealed to him, could cost me dearly.

McTeera portrays Hera as a complex character who is not simply wicked, but also adores her husband, craves power, and indulges in decadence. During her interview with Netflix TUDUM, she explained that Hera is more than just a villain; rather, she’s a multifaceted individual. McTeera stated that Hera transcends typical characterizations because she is a deity, which adds an intriguing layer to the portrayal of this character.

Reiki Ayola as Persephone

In a more contemporary and accessible style: Hades’ wife, the ruler of the Underworld, is Persephone. Throughout her life, she has worked to disprove centuries-old stories in art from ancient times, the Renaissance, and today, which portray her as being abducted by Hades and forced into a child marriage. Contrary to these depictions, Persephone willingly married Hades, but finds his family unbearable.

According to Ayola’s perspective, Persephone is both intelligent and independent. Furthermore, she thinks that Hades and Persephone make up the happiest couple within the scope of this series.

Cliff Curtis as Poseidon

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it this way: In my perspective, the younger sibling of the mighty Zeus, often depicted as the sea deity Poseidon, prefers a leisurely existence on a luxurious yacht near the enchanting shores of Crete. Unlike his image as a harbinger of dread, Poseidon is more about unwinding and finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. However, Zeus’s constant unease and suspicion pose a threat not just to Poseidon but also to someone dear to him, and ultimately, the stability of our family bond.

Stephen Dillane as Prometheus

Among all his friends, Zeus’s oldest one is Prometheus. As punishment for giving fire to humans (which was against the gods’ rules), Zeus bound him to a cliff, allowing an eagle to continuously peck at his liver as retribution. Covell argues that the conflict between Zeus and Prometheus serves as the central theme because it symbolizes the ongoing fight between divine power and individual freedom, as well as the struggle between the ruling class and the common people in a story or production.

Prometheus, bound by heavy chains, finds himself unable to actively participate in the plot against his captor. However, he’s an integral part of a larger, more intricate plan aimed at dethroning Zeus and the gods. All he can do is hold onto hope that this plan will eventually succeed.

Aurora Perrineau as Riddy

In her own eyes, Riddy scarcely matters; she’s unaware of her vast significance in the universe. Though her lavish lifestyle seems enviable from an outsider’s perspective because she’s married to the renowned musician Orpheus, Riddy is deeply unhappy and senses a need for transformation. Remarkably, a serendipitous encounter at a grocery store one day offers just that chance.

In most modern interpretations of Greek mythology, the character known as “Riddy” is actually Eurydice. While she’s a significant figure in legend, her role is typically quiet and subdued, sparking curiosity in Perrineau to delve deeper into her story.

The principal actors also consist of Killian Scott portraying Orpheus, who is wed to Riddy; Nabhaan Rizwa playing Dionysus, Zeus’ preferred son; Misia Butler as Caeneus; Stanley Townsend as Minos; Leila Farzad as Minos’ daughter Ari; Billie Piper as Cassandra; Debi Mazar as Medusa; and Suzy and Eddie Izzard in the roles of Lachy, also known as Lachesis. Other actors are included as well.
