As a dedicated fan who has followed the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for years, I was both excited and saddened by the recent news from San Diego Comic-Con. On one hand, it’s amazing to see Marvel Studios moving forward with new projects like “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” The announcement of Robert Downey Jr.’s rumored return as Doctor Doom added even more fuel to the fire of anticipation.
At San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H panel, it was revealed that Marvel Studios has reunited its creative team for upcoming films “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”. Stephen McFeely will be penning the scripts for these projects, but his longtime writing partner, Christopher Markus, did not appear at the announcement.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my excitement over the collaborative work of Markus and McFeely. They’ve been instrumental in penning some of my favorite films, such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. After the emotional rollercoaster that was Endgame, they decided to team up with Joe and Anthony Russo at their AGBO production company for the next two Avengers movies!
Robert Downey Jr. rumored to return as Doctor Doom
Jeff Sneider, an industry expert, has sparked enthusiasm among fans with the possibility of Robert Downey Jr. portraying Doctor Doom rather than Iron Man in future Marvel projects. According to Sneider’s recent newsletter, “It does seem unlikely, I know. But if there was any chance of Downey reprising his role, I believe there would need to be a fresh twist for him to sink his teeth into. For the time being, we can only speculate…”
Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, previously revealed and affirmed that the cast of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” would make an appearance in both “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” The lineup includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/the Thing.
As a devoted follower, I eagerly anticipate delving into fresh narratives and encountering new characters in the Marvel Studios universe. Additionally, I’m excited to rejoin old friends as we continue their thrilling journeys. Here are the release dates for Marvel’s upcoming movies that I can’t wait to watch:
- Captain America: Brave New World – February 14, 2025
- Thunderbolts – May 5, 2025
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps – July 25, 2025
- Blade – November 7, 2025
- Avengers: Doomsday – May 1, 2026
- Avengers: Secret Wars – May 7, 2027
