Who Is Nettles? House Of The Dragon Teases A Potential Revamp From Source Material, Check It Out

As a lifestyle expert with an extensive background in medieval history and fantasy series, I must say that House of the Dragon season 2 has been nothing short of a riveting journey through the Targaryen dynasty’s intricate tapestry. The introduction of additional dragon seeds to Team Black has certainly intensified the power struggle, leaving me on the edge of my seat each week.

The second season of House of the Dragon concluded with a significant flair! Queen Rhaenyra now boasts three commoner Dragonriders, often referred to as ‘dragon seeds’, supporting her faction. This advantage seems to tilt the balance towards Team Black. However, in George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novel – the basis for HOTD – there’s a character named Nettles who eventually tames the wild dragon Sheepstealer, hinted at throughout the season 2!

In the series, we’ve encountered Clinton Liberty’s character, Addam of Hull, a son born outside wedlock to Lord Corlys Velaryon. He has been selected as a rider for the dragon Seasmoke. Meanwhile, Hugh Hammer (Kieran Bew) has taken control over Vermithor, one of the largest dragons. Ulf (Tom Bennett), who claims to be Prince Daemon’s and the late King Viserys’ bastard half-brother, as well as a known drunkard, lays claim to Silverwing.

Nettles hasn’t been bullied on the show, but she is the daughter of Daemon, sister of Lady Baela Targaryen, and step-daughter of Queen Rhaenyra. On the show, she has spotted a wild dragon in the Vale.

In the final episode, a grinning yet fearful Rhaena ultimately identified and moved towards the Dragon called Sheepstealer, who let out a terrifying shriek upon seeing her. Even though she didn’t ride or domesticate the beast, indications strongly suggested that she might be the sixth dragon for Team Black.

Currently, Rhaenyra is accompanied by five dragons and their riders: Vermithor (with Hugh), Silverwing (Ulf), Seasmoke (Addam of Hull), Caraxes (Daemon), Syrax (Rhaenyra herself), Moondancer (Baela), and Vermax (Jacaerys). If Rhaena manages to tame Nettles, the sixth dragon, and ride it, team black will significantly strengthen their power!

Ryan Condal, co-creator and head writer of the series “House of the Dragon,” along with his writing partner Sara Hess, discussed modifications they made to the initial material in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. A contentious point among fans was the portrayal of Queen Helaena’s son, Prince Jaehaerys, being killed by Blood and Cheese.

House of the Dragon season 2 is now streaming on Jio Cinema.
