This week, it was revealed by Forbes that Lucy Guo, a co-founder at Scale AI, has become the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire. If you’re curious about who Guo is, let’s delve into her background!

In 2016, at the age of 21, Guo, who had dropped out of college in computer science, teamed up with Alexandr Wang to establish Scale AI, an artificial intelligence company. Despite some differences in management strategies, Guo departed from the firm in 2018. However, she wisely retained a significant portion of her shares for future endeavors. Now, she holds approximately 5% of the company’s shares, valued at roughly $1.2 billion.

Born to Chinese immigrant parents, Guo spent her childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her passion for coding blossomed in middle school, leading her to study computer science and human-computer interactions at Carnegie Mellon University. However, she chose to leave college prior to graduation to join the Thiel Fellowship – a program backed by billionaire investor Peter Thiel.
