About Dafne Keen
Dafne Keen’s acting career took off after she played the role of X-23 in Logan at the age of fifteen. The Spanish-British actress started her acting journey earlier, at nine, with a part in the Spanish TV series “The Refugees” (Refugiados). Yet, it was her impressive performance as Laura, the young clone of Wolverine called X-23, alongside Hugh Jackman in Logan that brought her significant recognition.
Approximately two years after her initial role, Keen assumed the lead part as Lyra Belacqua in His Dark Materials, impressing audiences with her nuanced portrayal of the intricate character. In 2020, she graced the screen in a comedic film titled Ana. The subsequent year, she contributed her voice to Shirley Hitchings within the supernatural horror podcast The Battersea Poltergeist, which was recognized as a finalist for Best True Crime Podcast at the 2022 British Podcast Awards. Additionally, Keen made an appearance in the horror film Whistle.
In November 2022, Keen became part of the acting lineup for The Acolyte, a new Star Wars TV show which debuted in June 2024.
Dafne Keen is excited to play the role again
In a recent chat, Dafne Keen spoke about her anticipation for reprising her renowned character. At the age of 11, Keen brought Laura, or X-23, to life in Logan. Now 19, she shared the delight she felt about concealing her ongoing involvement with Deadpool and Wolverine. “I enjoyed keeping it a secret,” she shared. “I had to attend numerous interviews for a previous project, and I was grilled about it every time. Lying during those sessions turned out to be quite amusing.”
Using Andrew Garfield’s skillful hiding of his Spider-Man comeback as an inspiration, Keen relished the thrill of keeping things under wraps. “I draw all my motivation from Andrew Garfield,” she shared. Despite feeling a tad sad about possibly letting go of the role, she was eagerly anticipating her second chance.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are teaming up once more in the upcoming movie Deadpool & Wolverine, marking their first collaboration since X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. Reynolds, who reprises his role as Deadpool, and Jackman as Wolverine, brought back fond memories for Keen. She shared her feelings, stating, “When they called ‘Action!’ it felt like we were right back filming Logan. The past eight years seemed to vanish.” This reunion has rekindled Keen’s enthusiasm for the Deadpool character and the film franchise.
