The popular HBO series “The White Lotus” will reportedly be heading to France for its fourth season, according to Variety. Although HBO hasn’t made an official announcement, insiders say the team is currently looking at upscale locations in Paris and along the French Riviera.
The new season will probably be set primarily in the South of France, much like Season 3 which took place mostly on Koh Samui, with a few scenes in Bangkok.
Paris will likely play a minor role in the story. Currently, locations like hotels haven’t been finalized, and filming isn’t scheduled to begin until next year.
Earlier seasons of the show were filmed at Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand. However, Season 4 will be different. HBO’s partnership with Four Seasons has ended, so the show will now feature other high-end hotels instead.
The film crew in Paris is considering a few iconic hotels as filming locations, according to Variety. One possibility is the luxurious Hotel Lutetia, a five-star establishment on the Left Bank that opened in 1910 and has welcomed guests like Charlie Chaplin, Pablo Picasso, and Ernest Hemingway. They are also looking at the Ritz Paris, which debuted in 1898 and was a favorite of Coco Chanel, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Marcel Proust.
Mike White, who created the show “The White Lotus,” has hinted at what’s coming in the next season, but hasn’t revealed many details.
Following the season three finale, the creator mentioned in an HBO interview that he wanted to move away from the intense, dramatic style of the previous season for season four. However, he also hinted that more characters would likely die at the White Lotus resorts. Potential locations for the next season, fitting that description, include cities like Monaco and Nice on the French Riviera.
The new season will probably feature a combination of American and French actors, similar to past seasons. Several familiar faces may be back, such as Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), Greg (Jon Gries), and Belinda (Natasha Rothwell). We might also see Charlotte LeBon reprise her role as Chloé in Season 4.
