White Lotus Actress Aubrey Plaza’s Husband Jeff Baena Passes Away; Found In LA Home After Suicide

Film director Jeff Baena, recognized for helming indie films such as Life After Beth and Joshy, tragically took his own life at the age of 47. His lifeless body was found in his Los Angeles residence on Friday morning, January 3, by his assistant around 10:30 a.m., as reported by RadarOnline.com. The authorities have confirmed that Baena’s death was due to suicide.

Originating from Miami and nurtured there, Baena attained his film studies degree at New York University. Subsequently, he started off in the production sector under the tutelage of Robert Zemeckis, eventually advancing to the role of assistant editor for David O. Russell, a renowned writer-director known for I Heart Huckabees.

Baena joined forces with Russell in their creative endeavors following a car accident that momentarily incapacitated Baena, which eventually led to joint scriptwriting sessions.

Jeff Baena has established a distinctive style within the independent film industry. He kicked off his directorial career with the zombie comedy “Life After Beth,” starring Aubrey Plaza. His subsequent films, such as “Joshy,” “The Little Hours,” “Horse Girl,” and “Spin Me Round,” garnered praise for their original narratives.

Apart from creating feature films, Baena also dabbled in the realm of television. He crafted Cinema Toast, an innovative series that manipulated and remixed publicly available footage. His unique take on filmmaking captured the hearts of independent cinema fans, establishing a devoted fanbase.

In the year 2011, Jeff Baena and Aubrey Plaza forged a secret bond between them. Their fans were taken aback when they unexpectedly announced their marriage via a discreet Instagram post back in May 2021. Later, Plaza affectionately referred to Baena as her “dear husband,” expressing her joy over his creative accomplishments.

She expressed her pride in her beloved husband, Jeff Baena, for coming up with yet another movie idea that transports us to Italy and seems to be stirring up more mischief, as she put it back then.

On New Year’s Day, Plaza was snapped sitting at a New York Knicks match alongside comedian Jerrod Carmichael. This photo was taken just a few days prior to the heartbreaking announcement about her husband’s passing. As of now, she has not made any public comments regarding his demise.

Baena is survived by his loved ones, such as his spouse Aubrey Plaza, mother Barbara Stern, father Scott Baena, stepfather Roger Stern, stepmother Michele Baena, brother Brad Baena, and step-siblings Bianca Gabay and Jed Fluxman – all of whom mourn his passing deeply.
