The creators of Where Winds Meet have addressed a recent issue in the game – a glitch that allowed players to escape bounties by disconnecting from the internet. It seems they’ve released an update to fix it.
If you’ve been playing Where Winds Meet since its release last month, you’ve probably noticed – and maybe don’t like – its crime and bounty system. When you commit a crime, you become wanted, and other players can actually hunt you down to collect a reward for capturing you.
I’ve been really getting into Where Winds Meet, and man, it’s frustrating when you get a bounty on your head! I’ve seen players just rage quit and go offline, hoping the bounty will magically disappear when they come back. But it looks like the developers, Everstone Studios, have figured out what we’re up to!
Where Winds Meet Will Throw You In Jail If You Go Offline To Avoid Your Crimes
Looks Like You’ll Just Have To Face The Music
A popular post on the Where Winds Meet subreddit, shared by Redditor frangarnonflectar, details a funny situation. After being labeled a criminal for theft, the player tried to avoid consequences by disconnecting from the game, but the developers had already patched the loophole.
When frangarnonflectar returned to Where Winds Meet, they found a message stating they’d been arrested for robbery. The game explained this happened because they tried to avoid consequences by logging out. Apparently, the game caught them, and going offline no longer works as a way to escape arrest or bounties.
Luckily, justice was served! You were caught trying to pull that stunt and were immediately arrested.
It’s unclear exactly when this change happened or if it affects all players. Some users on the Where Winds Meet subreddit reported being jailed for disconnecting at least two weeks ago. However, others in the same discussion said they could avoid bounties by simply quitting the game, so the current rules aren’t entirely obvious.
It seems the developers of Where Winds Meet have already fixed the exploit where players could avoid bounties by going offline. While that’s good, bounty hunting still needs some overall improvements to make it less frustrating and more rewarding. Right now, it feels like a risky trade-off.
