In Monster Hunter Wilds, the excitement of the hunt extends beyond slaying colossal monsters; it also involves uncovering lesser-known creatures. These endemic lifeforms may be harmless, but they significantly contribute to exploration by allowing you to catch captivating creatures for aesthetic purposes or to aid the Guild’s research efforts.
As a devoted Monster Hunter Wilds enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share my insights on locating and capturing the elusive Rime Beetle. Let’s embark on this exciting journey together!

Rime Beetle Location in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Rime Beetle is uniquely discovered within the Iceshard Cliffs district of Monster Hunter Wilds. Our exploration indicates that Areas 2, 7, 11, and 13 offer a fairly good probability of encountering the elusive Rime Beetle.
In simple terms, Area 7 serves as the primary location for the map of the Iceshard Cliffs area, and it’s quite nearby if a Rime Beetle happens to spawn there.
TIP: Many native species are missing from the map, however, the Rime Beetle stands out as an exception. To locate a Rime Beetle on the map, simply search for a dark blue circular symbol, much like the Sleeptoad’s icon.
How to Catch the Rime Beetle?
Approaching the Rime Beetle too closely allows you to press the interaction key, causing the hunter to boot the beetle and retrieve frost ammo. But, keep in mind that this action will make the beetle scurry away and burrow underground immediately afterwards, thereby thwarting your attempts to catch it.
As a gamer, I’d advise keeping my distance from those Rime Beetles! Instead of taking unnecessary risks, I recommend equipping a Capture Net and firing at that snowball. Trust me, if you do, you’ll successfully catch the elusive Rime Beetle!
Why Do You Need to Find and Catch the Rime Beetle in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Just like tracking down the native Ember Rufflizard and Dapperwing, your role as a hunter includes locating and capturing the elusive Rime Beetle during one of the side missions in the game.
After catching at least one Rime Beetle with your Capture Net, make your way back to the base camp on Windward Plains and update Samin about it. This action will finish the “Samin’s Research Report (Cont.)” side mission in Monster Hunter Wilds, earning you a reward of 5 Honey and 10 Mandragora.
Alright, fellow hunter!
