In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Tracktail Lizard is a hard-to-find creature. This local species dwells in the Windward Plains, but without knowing the right spots, you could easily become disoriented amidst the desert landscape. Here’s where to locate this reptile for your continued research with Dareel.
Tracktail Lizard location
The Tracktail Lizard can be spotted specifically in Area 13, nestled within the oasis situated in the Windward Plains. While it may inhabit other locations on the map, I encountered one sunbathing on the eastern side of the water during daytime hours and surprisingly, even in the Fallow season.
The Tracktail Lizard stands out, thanks to its purplish physique and unique ability to perch upright using its robust, orange-hued tail. Unlike the Ember Rufflizard, this posture makes it more conspicuous to observe.
How to catch a Tracktail Lizard
Almost all native creatures, including the Tracktail Lizard, can be captured with your handy net. To do so, choose your net from the inventory wheel and load it into your slinger. Target the lizard when ready, then shoot when you’re within range. Remember to act swiftly as it tends to flee once it notices you. However, prior to escaping, it will raise itself up on its tail.
Once you’ve successfully captured the Tracktail Lizard, make your way back to Dareel to complete your Research Report. As a reward, you’ll receive some honey and the side quest between the two researchers will advance.
