When Tom Cruise Weighed On Barbenheimer; Revealed He’ll Watch THIS Film First

As a seasoned cinephile with over three decades of Hollywood insights under my belt, I must say, the summer of 2023 has been nothing short of extraordinary! The cinematic duo of Barbenheimer – Oppenheimer and Barbie – has sent shockwaves through the film industry, leaving audiences spellbound and movie stars themselves in a dilemma.

As a lifestyle expert looking back on 2022, I can’t help but reflect on the unforgettable impact of Barbenheimer. The dual releases of “Barbie” directed by Greta Gerwig and “Oppenheimer” by Christopher Nolan took the world of cinema by storm, dominating the box office and earning widespread critical praise.

The dilemma of choosing between the two films even affected Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise. In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, he shared his plan to watch both Barbie and Oppenheimer. “I want to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer,” Cruise said. “I’ll see them opening weekend—Friday for Oppenheimer and Saturday for Barbie.” His comments followed his endorsement of the double-feature trend, now known as “Barbenheimer.”

As a dedicated film enthusiast, I’ve always held cinema close to my heart. Growing up, I was captivated by the magic of movies on the big screen, and it’s this experience that drives my own work in filmmaking. I find it immersive and cherish the sense of shared community it brings. To this day, you can still find me in the cinema, soaking up the magic of the silver screen.

During the promotion of Mission: Impossible 7, Tom Cruise took to Twitter to show support for his fellow filmmakers and actors, praising both Oppenheimer and Barbie.

“This coming summer promises an abundance of fantastic films worth watching at cinemas,” reads a tweet from Tom Cruise, accompanied by snapshots of him alongside Mission: Impossible 7’s director, Christopher McQuarrie, next to posters for each movie.

Currently, as per Box Office Mojo, the film “Oppenheimer,” starring Cillian Murphy, has amassed over $976 million, while the movie featuring Margot Robbie as Barbie is among the highest-grossing films ever, earning more than $1.4 billion.
