As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen many a celebrity navigate the treacherous waters of show business. Oprah Winfrey, the undisputed queen of daytime television, has just demonstrated yet again why she is a force to be reckoned with. Her decision to buy back the rights to her documentary from Apple TV+ is a testament to her unwavering commitment to artistic control and creative vision.
Oprah Winfrey previously purchased the ownership rights to her documentary away from Apple TV+. This unexpected decision, as reported by sources, was apparently motivated by a unique set of circumstances.
It was back in September 2022 when Oprah Winfrey had bought back the rights to her documentary.
Based on a representative for Oprah, who finalized the agreement with Apple as per reports to Page Six in September this year, “As the Apple TV+ deal was expiring, Mrs. Winfrey reacquired the rights to her documentary series and has since decided to postpone its release.
The Selma actress believes that Lisa Erspamer and Kevin Macdonald, who were involved in her “docuseries,” possess immense skill as filmmakers and are truly talented individuals.
The representative also expressed that the actress, known for her role in The Color Purple, is “appreciative of the effort and dedication they invested in the production.

Afterward, the actress who starred in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks decided to repurchase the rights for her documentary.
2021 saw Apple TV+ reveal that an upcoming documentary on the renowned talk show host will be helmed by the Academy Award-winning director, Kevin Macdonald.
According to Page Six, Macdonald reportedly encountered disagreements with Oprah Winfrey as the project was completed by Macdonald, yet it has been delayed since then.
For those not familiar, Lisa Erspamer is a veteran producer who collaborated extensively with media legend Oprah Winfrey, working together on The Oprah Winfrey Show from 1999 until 2009.
Erspamer and Macdonald crossed paths during their collaboration on the documentary about Whitney Houston’s life, titled “Whitney.
