When Millie Bobby Brown Admitted She Was ‘Jealous’ of People Born in the 80s; Claimed ‘They Had So Much Freedom’

In a 2019 interview, Millie Bobby Brown expressed her wish that she’d lived in the 1980s as a child, because kids from that era appeared to enjoy greater freedom compared to present-day children.

Brown expressed envy towards those born in the 1980s, stating they enjoyed considerable freedom, as they could freely roam their neighborhood on their bicycles without any restrictions. (Age 15 Brown shared this sentiment with HELLO! magazine.)

Prior to her success in Stranger Things, the actress who played the Damsel mentioned that she didn’t have the same level of freedom. She further explained, “These days, I can hardly venture far from home, but even before Stranger Things, I couldn’t do so because it wasn’t safe.

Beyond her enthusiasm for the freedom, Brown also expressed her affection for the fashion and music of the 1980s. She shared, “The ’80s had some fantastic styles! The vibrant colors, the large hairdos, and the fun – I adore it all, especially the vintage Coca-Cola cans. This show was what drew me to David Bowie.

Despite Brown frequently appearing in the media, she consistently maintained that her lifestyle was quite ordinary for a teenager. She favored sporting sneakers over high-end accessories and exemplified this preference by donning her sneakers on the red carpet at the SAG Awards. Furthermore, she emphasized that she had never attempted to portray an image older than her actual age.

According to Brown, her daily existence revolves around delightful pastimes such as baking (and occasionally ending up with a burnt cake), and she playfully mentioned this. She revealed that visiting the park with her sister Ava, taking a dip when swimming, and interacting with pets make up most of her usual routine.

In 2021, Millie Bobby Brown started dating actor Jake Bongiovi. On May 27, 2024, they officially tied the knot at a private wedding ceremony, according to reports from People magazine.
