As I shared my exasperation, saying “This was a nightmare,” my co-star, Leo, couldn’t help but laugh. The humor didn’t alleviate the situation, as we had to reshoot that scene approximately four times due to James Cameron’s meticulous demand for a precise light setup. Alas, the sunsets kept changing, making it challenging to maintain consistency with the desired illumination.
Despite encountering significant challenges during its creation, the movie Titanic emerged as a triumphant cinematic achievement, earning 11 Oscars, among them Best Picture. Its enduring popularity places it high on the list of all-time box office champions. Kate Winslet expressed great pride in the film, stating, “I feel very proud of it because I believe it has a unique ability to continue resonating with new audiences. Each generation seems to be discovering this movie or watching it for the first time, and that’s truly extraordinary.”
Nevertheless, Winslet shared that having a connection with the Titanic has one downside for her. Whenever she steps onto a boat, she is often asked to reenact her famous “I’m flying” scene. She admitted it can be frustrating, as this request occurs “each and every time.”
