When Harry Styles Said It Was ‘Flattering’ Taylor Swift Wrote Songs About Him

As a dedicated follower of pop culture, I’ve watched the intriguing dance between Harry Styles and Taylor Swift for years, their on-again-off-again relationship and the songs that have arisen from it. Being an observer of such dramas, I must say, the way they handle their past with grace and humility is truly admirable.

In the year 2020, it marked exactly seven years since the breakup between Harry Styles and Taylor Swift. When asked about the songs Swift penned about their relationship, Styles found them “complimentary.” He shared his perspective on Swift composing tunes inspired by him.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share my thoughts about Taylor Swift’s music that was reportedly inspired by our brief romance back in late 2012 to early 2013. During a chat with Howard Stern in March 2020, I couldn’t help but express my admiration for the tracks like “Out of the Woods” and “Style.” Truth be told, these songs are so good that I wouldn’t mind them being about me! It’s fascinating to see how our short-lived relationship left a lasting mark on her creative journey.

Styles welcomes the idea of ex-lovers composing songs about him, as long as it doesn’t upset the person being sung about. He expressed, “I consider what it means to me to write a song about someone else, and if someone else does the same, it feels like a compliment.” Even if the song isn’t overly flattering, he believes that effort has been put into it. Using Taylor as an example, he acknowledges her exceptional songwriting skills. Therefore, at least the songs are well-crafted. This sentiment, reported by E! and Just Jared, underscores his admiration for the creative process, regardless of how favorably he might be portrayed in the music.

He confessed that he ponders over whether a song is personally relevant to him only when evaluating if it might bother someone else. In essence, his reflection boils down to: “I consider, ‘is this song too personal?’ primarily when I think about, ‘will this be overly annoying for the other person?'”.

During the same chat, Styles shared insights about his present love life, admitting that he is currently unattached. Yet, he expressed a desire for marriage in the future, stating, “I truly hope it will happen someday.”

It’s well-known that some songs from Taylor Swift’s 2012 album were rumored to have been inspired by her brief relationship with Harry Styles. Tracks like “Out of the Woods,” “Style,” and “I Knew You Were Trouble” are often seen as glimpses into their past. For quite some time, fans have been dissecting Swift’s songs for potential references to Styles, particularly lines that seem to directly implicate him. In fact, one of her songs includes the line about a man who is “younger than my exes but he acts like such a man,” which many believe alludes to Styles.

In simpler terms, the lyrics of the song subtly hint at a connection with Harry Styles’ song “Two Ghosts”. This line is perceived as such because it seems to echo the theme of past relationships and moving on.

In a Rolling Stone interview, when asked if he recognized any Taylor Swift songs based on their shared experiences, Styles emphatically stated that he wasn’t aware of any, but gratefully acknowledged if their past had influenced her music. He remarked, “I consider myself fortunate if our journey inspired those songs. That’s what resonates deeply. Those are the topics I discuss least and find hardest to express.”

At present, Taylor Swift is romantically involved with Travis Kelce, while in May of this year, there were reports that Harry Styles parted ways with model and actress, Taylor Russell.
