When Brad Pitt Admitted He Was ‘Getting Old’ Shortly Before Turning 50

As a long-time admirer of Hollywood’s finest, I find it both inspiring and thought-provoking to hear Brad Pitt reflecting on his career and life. Having followed his illustrious journey since the early days of “Thelma & Louise,” it’s fascinating to see him grapple with the passage of time and his own mortality.


Brad Pitt is widely recognized as one of the esteemed actors in the movie industry of Hollywood. Although he’s captivated many hearts through various roles that left numerous girls in awe, during an interview, the man behind World War Z shared that he has reached the midpoint in his career.

In the year 2012, Brad Pitt, famous for his role in Bullet Train, was marketing his recently released movie titled Killing Them Softly. This promotional activity occurred just a year before his 50th birthday.

During the conversation about the thrilling movie, Brad Pitt reminisced about his experiences working on the Chanel advertising campaign as well.

In the previously mentioned advertisement, Brad Pitt, known for his role in By the Sea, is shown uttering various phrases such as “The world spins and we spin with it. Plans fade away. Dreams take center stage. Yet, no matter where I go, there you are.” When discussing this, Pitt explained that he decided to be part of this ad because it was one of the rare chances that he might not have again in the future.

“During the interview, he mentioned that he feels he’s reaching an advanced age. He referred to the advertising campaign as his final chance to engage in such activities.”

During the interview, he additionally shared insights about his own mortality, likening it to a parent’s concern for their children. He explained further that, much like a parent, one hopes to witness their offspring mature and reach remarkable accomplishments in life.

Furthermore, the Ad Astra star expressed, “Given the time I may have left, I’ve been pondering how I’m spending those days. This question has weighed heavily on me more than ever before.”

Coming to Brad Pitt’s role in Killing Them Softly, he plays the character of Jackie Cogan, an enforcer hired to restore order following a robbery by three people.  

In addition to Brad Pitt, other notable actors in the movie included Ray Liotta, who sadly passed away, Richard Jenkins, Scoot McNairy, and several others. The film “Killing Them Softly” was directed and co-written by Andrew Dominik, with George V. Higgins contributing to the screenplay as well.

The film was released on October 5, 2012, and Brad Pitt turned 50 the next year in 2013.
