Oh my gods, you guys, I can barely breathe! They’re *finally* making another Game of Thrones show! It’s called ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ and it’s coming in early 2026 – I’ve been waiting forever! I read in the Economic Times that we’ll get to stream it on Max, which is awesome, but even better, people in India will be able to watch it on JioCinema! I’ve already marked my calendar and I’m counting down the days. This is HUGE!
The show’s creators have unveiled the official poster, featuring the phrase “A tall tale that became legend.” The poster hints at a more lighthearted and adventurous feel, setting it apart from the grimmer settings of shows like *Game of Thrones* and *House of the Dragon*. The official *Game of Thrones* social media account announced the premiere with the poster and caption: “This Winter, Spring is Coming. #AKnightoftheSevenKingdoms premieres January, only on @hbomax. #NYCC.”
Here’s what the spin-off is about
This series, inspired by George R.R. Martin’s story *The Hedge Knight*, centers on the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (played by Peter Claffey) and his young companion, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). The show takes place in Westeros, about a century before the events of *Game of Thrones* and after *House of the Dragon*, and follows Dunk and Egg as they travel the realm.
Long before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ the story follows Ser Duncan the Tall, a brave but inexperienced knight, and his small squire, Egg, as they journey across Westeros. Set during the reign of the Targaryen dynasty – when dragons are still remembered – the pair will face great challenges, powerful enemies, and dangerous adventures as they forge an unlikely friendship.
The story follows their travels to a major tournament at Ashford Meadow, where they meet several members of the Targaryen family, including Princes Aerion, Baelor, and Maekar. The promotional poster particularly focuses on Egg, hinting at his life before he rises to become a famous Targaryen king in Westeros.
Viewers in India will be able to watch A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms on JioCinema starting in early 2026. Elsewhere in the world, the series will stream on Max (formerly HBO Max), bringing it to fans globally.
