What Will Happen to Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa’s Bodies After Suspicious Deaths? Actor’s Alleged Wish May Cause Trouble for Kids

The children of Gene Hackman are seeking clarity about their father’s final wishes, potentially causing new complexities, as details about the burial location of both Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa remain undecided. Weeks have passed since the autopsies on their bodies were completed, yet it remains uncertain whether the Oscar-winning actor’s remains will be interred in New Mexico or transported across state lines.

In the matter of deciding where to lay Hackman’s remains, Laura Cowan, an estate planning attorney, spoke with the Daily Mail. She explained that if his children wished for his remains to be managed in California, and he didn’t provide any legally binding burial or cremation instructions, then what follows next is essentially a mix of state laws, family relationships, and practical considerations.

In such a case, if Gene’s kids don’t see eye-to-eye on how to handle his remains, and there’s no prior instructions in writing, it might lead to complex situations.

On February 18th, the star of “The French Connection,” along with his wife and pet dog, were discovered deceased in a mysterious manner. The sheriff of Santa Fe shared this sad news with authorities, who positively identified the bodies at around 12:30 a.m. on the following day.

According to official reports, Hackman died at the age of 95 after battling serious heart disease. On the other hand, medical records indicate that pianist Arakawa passed away due to a severe respiratory illness contracted from interacting with infected rodents. At the time of her passing, Hackman’s wife was 64 years old.
