WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS Final Season Sets Release Date

As a dedicated fan of “What We Do in the Shadows,” I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness as we approach the final season of this brilliant and hilarious vampire comedy series. After binge-watching every episode multiple times, attending virtual panels with the cast at Comic-Con, and engaging in countless discussions about my favorite moments and characters with fellow fans, it’s hard to accept that our time with Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo, Colin Robinson, and Guillermo is coming to an end.

I’m disappointed to share that my favorite vampire coven from Staten Island will be wrapping up their story in “What We Do in the Shadows” after next year. Although FX graciously renewed the show for seasons five and six back in season four, we’ll have to bid farewell to Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), and their human familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) by 2024. We’ve been given the release date for the sixth and final season, which will bring us more laughs and adventures with these undead characters before they fade into darkness.

When Will What We Do in the Shadows Season Six Premiere?

As a dedicated fan of “What We Do in the Shadows” since its inception, I couldn’t be more thrilled to share that the final season is upon us! This quirky and hilarious show has brought so much joy and entertainment into my life over the years. And now, on Monday, October 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, FX will grace our screens with the first three episodes of season six. I can hardly contain my excitement!

What We Do in the Shadows Season Six Synopsis

Based on current information, this is a summary of what’s been revealed about the last season of “What We Do in the Shadows.” An announcement has given us our initial glimpse into the storyline, explaining:

Guillermo, who had only recently become a full-fledged vampire, was taking a moment to reconsider his existence. What defined him – being a faithful servant to his Master, constantly seeking to be transformed into a vampire in return? The vampires themselves were undergoing a similar introspection. With the unexpected return of their former roommate from a long slumber, they became painfully aware of their lack of accomplishments over the past fifty years – no goals achieved, no dreams pursued, and only their street and part of Ashley Street conquered in the New World.

In the last season of the Emmy-recognized comedy “What We Do in the Shadows,” Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo, Colin, and Guillermo embark on new careers, travel to New Hampshire, attend a human social gathering, celebrate The Baron, and summon a demon – all while searching for their identity and meaning in this chaotic, complex universe.

More About What We Do in the Shadows‘ Final Season

As a devoted fan, I’ve been captivated by the evolution of “What We Do in the Shadows” from Taika Waititi’s 2014 film into a bona fide cult sensation. This TV show has surpassed its origins and amassed an impressive 21 Emmy nominations, with one win for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes in 2022. Yet, the remarkable and riotously funny cast members have yet to receive the recognition they richly deserve. So why stop here?

What We Do in the Shadows is one of the best vampire series ever on TV, not to mention one of the best comedies ever made for TV. So we are very sad to see it go. However, we can’t deny six seasons is a good run. Most other great vampire shows like Buffy and True Blood only saw diminishing returns after their fifth or sixth seasons. So maybe now is a good time to bow out for our immortal friends. But if there is any show that is deserving of the “six seasons and a movie” push, we think it’s What We Do in the Shadows. Let’s raise a glass of AB Negative to our undead friends.
