What Leaves Nicole Kidman ‘Crying and Gasping’ at 3 AM? Actress Opens Up About Her Emotions

As I reflect on Nicole Kidman‘s journey, it’s clear that she is a woman who has weathered the storms of life with unwavering grace and resilience. Her openness about her emotions, particularly at this stage in her life, is both inspiring and relatable. We all have moments when we feel overwhelmed by life’s complexities, but it’s heartening to see someone as accomplished as Kidman embrace these feelings rather than pushing them aside.

In her 50s, Nicole Kidman is experiencing a broader range of emotions than before, choosing instead to embrace them rather than suppress or dull them. The actress, now 57, expressed this in a recent interview with GQ, published on November 18th, stating that she feels the weight of mortality, the strength of connections, and the impact of life more profoundly than ever before.

“Experiencing the loss of parents, bringing up children, getting married, and everything else that shapes a person into a conscious being – I’ve been through all these stages. That’s what life is – it’s quite a ride,” explained Kidman, who has two daughters, Sunday Rose (16) and Faith Margaret (13), with her husband Keith Urban.

As a devoted follower, I might express it this way: I, too, am a mother, much like the actress, to a daughter and son who are 31 and 29 respectively. These children were adopted by me along with my former partner, Tom Cruise. However, there have been reports suggesting that I’m not in contact with my older children, who seem to be close to their father. They were previously associated with the Church of Scientology, like him. It has been 16 years since I’ve been seen in public with them.

These days, with her feelings running high, Kidman admitted that her reflections on the previously discussed topics have caused her to “awaken at 3 a.m., tearful and breathless.” She explained that she is no longer suppressing her emotions, instead choosing to fully experience them as they come.

More recently, the Oscar-winning actress had to cut short her attendance at the Venice International Film Festival due to the passing of her mother, Janelle, who was 84 years old. In her absence, it was director Halina Reijn who accepted the Best Actress Award for Kidman’s performance in “Babygirl.” On stage, Reijn read a moving statement from Kidman: “I am shocked and need to be with my family right now, but this award is for her. She molded me, she guided me, and she helped make me who I am.

In October, Kidman mourned her mother during the premiere of Lioness season 2, expressing that navigating life without Janelle is a challenging journey, but she’s doing her utmost to persevere. The actress acknowledged that celebrating any major milestone without her mother by her side was a bittersweet experience.

In 2014, Nicole Kidman’s father, Anthony, passed away. Afterwards, in an interview with GQ, she remembered the days following his death. One incident that stood out was when her daughters, who were four and six then, saw her crying. According to Kidman, when her youngest daughter noticed her weeping, she asked her elder sister if their mother was acting or if she was genuinely upset. Her older sister had to clarify that Kidman was indeed crying in sorrow and not for the sake of acting.

According to Kidman, the elder one tried to comfort her mother with a firm promise that things would improve the next day.
