As a die-hard sports enthusiast who’s spent countless hours glued to my TV screen, watching the gridiron glory unfold, I can confidently say that Glen Powell’s latest venture, Chad Powers, has me pumped! Known for his electrifying performances in Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters, Powell now takes on a unique challenge, portraying Russ Holliday – a former star college quarterback seeking redemption.

Glen Powell, recognized for his unforgettable performances in Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters, steps into a fresh endeavor with Hulu’s upcoming comedy, Chad Powers. In this series, Powell portrays Russ Holliday, a once-prominent college quarterback seeking redemption following a scandalous end to his career. To achieve a second chance, he assumes the identity of Chad Powers and joins a struggling football team in pursuit of a comeback. The show draws inspiration from Eli Manning’s undercover character featured in his ESPN docuseries Eli’s Places.

In an Instagram teaser posted with ESPN, actor Glen Powell is seen sporting a rough, long-haired look, a thin mustache, and a prosthetic nose. The post showcases brief clips from Eli Manning’s original Chad Powers stunt, along with comparative images of their metamorphoses.

In this joint creation by Michael Waldron, the writer of Loki, Powell vividly portrays his character while also serving as a producer, alongside the Manning brothers, Eli and Peyton.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting insights about an upcoming movie that’s been grabbing attention – the sports comedy featuring none other than the talented Glen Powell, titled “Chad Powers.” Here’s what we know so far!

In a bid for atonement, the ex-college quarterback Russ Holliday – whose erratic conduct brought an untimely end to his football career – assumes the identity of Chad Powers and links up with a struggling football squad.

The show draws inspiration from Eli Manning’s 2022 episode of “Eli’s Places,” in which Manning disguised himself as Chad Powers during Penn State football auditions. To pull off this prank, Manning worked with makeup artists to alter his appearance using a wig, mustache, and facial prosthetics, playfully pretending to be Chad Powers in practice.

During the tryouts, the coach announced that a participant had been disqualified due to subpar performance and ineligibility. Suddenly, Eli Manning, who appeared disappointed, took off his wig and prosthetics, revealing himself as the 41-year-old hoping to rekindle his football career. The athletes were taken aback by this reveal and laughed in surprise, but Manning graciously thanked them for allowing him to take part.

Chad Powers features Glen Powell as Russ Holliday, alongside Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Perry Mattfeld, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Quentin Plair in the cast. Filming started in August 2024, however, Hulu has not specified a release date yet.

The show, jointly created by Powell and Michael Waldron, is helmed by Tony Yacenda for its pilot episode. Notably, Waldron (famous for Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) lends his narrative prowess to this production. Additionally, Eli and Peyton Manning serve as executive producers, further developing the narrative around Eli’s character.

Eli showed his enthusiasm for the upcoming show, while actor Powell from Devotion assured he would uphold the memory of Chad Powers. Sharing a common interest in college football, both Powell and Waldron are eager to translate this engaging tale into reality. As of now, Chad Powers will only be available on Hulu; however, no trailer has been unveiled as of yet.
