As a die-hard TLC fan who has followed their journey since the 90s, I can’t help but feel a pang of concern and sympathy for Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins. Despite the numerous challenges they have faced over the years, from Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes’ tragic death to personal health issues, TLC has consistently shown resilience and determination. Their music has been the soundtrack of my life, providing a source of strength and inspiration during tough times.
Due to an unexpected health issue with band member Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, TLC had to postpone their concerts scheduled for the weekend. This news was shared only a few hours prior to their planned show on August 23 at the New York State Fair.
In a post shared on her Instagram Stories following T-Boz’s concert in Toledo, Ohio on August 22, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas disclosed details about an unexpected health issue that T-Boz experienced.
On their Instagram post, TLC’s official account shared that upon reaching Syracuse, Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins suddenly felt extremely ill with severe nausea, vomiting, and intense stomach pain. She was swiftly examined by a doctor and subsequently transported to the hospital for more detailed assessments.
Immediately after the singer fell ill, a doctor examined her and discovered an abdominal obstruction. As a result, the performances by TLC at Syracuse, New York, on Friday, August 23, and Mashantucket, Connecticut, on Saturday, August 24 were postponed, according to the doctor’s recommendation. The singer was expected to be released from the hospital by Sunday, August 25, as stated in the announcement.
In April, Watkins and Thomas were honored as the group received a Landmark Award at the 2024 iHeartRadio Awards held in Los Angeles. Notably, their popular girl group consisted of three members: the late rapper Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes who tragically passed away in 2002 following a car accident at the age of 30.
In response to the cancellation of their August 24 performance at Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut, the announcement emphasized that TLC remains dedicated to rearranging the concert dates. T-Boz then shared this message on her personal Instagram account, expressing optimism about the rescheduled events.
She said, “This turned out to be one of those surprises I couldn’t influence! I can’t wait to make amends with everyone… and I hope I’ll be discharged from the hospital quickly, maybe even tomorrow if everything goes smoothly!”
