What Happened To Sally Kirkland? Veteran Actress Battling Health Crisis After Severe Illnesses And Bone Fractures

As an ardent admirer of Sally Kirkland‘s extraordinary talent and indomitable spirit, I am deeply moved by her current plight. This 83-year-old powerhouse, who has graced our screens for over six decades, is facing health and financial struggles that seem almost insurmountable. Yet, she remains a beacon of resilience, a testament to the unwavering human spirit.

As a devoted admirer, I’m sharing this news about Sally Kirkland, an esteemed actress who has graced our screens for decades. At 83 years old, she’s currently battling both health and financial hardships. Friends of the Oscar-nominated icon have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist her in covering the costs of critical medical care following multiple life-threatening infections and severe bone fractures.

The charity event launched on Monday is aimed at gathering a total of $65,000 to handle extra medical bills and post-treatment care expenses not covered by her insurance plan.

It came to light that last year, Sally suffered multiple bone breaks in her neck, right wrist, and left hip. During her recuperation, she contracted two distinct, potentially fatal infections. Inadequate treatment significantly decreases the likelihood of Sally making a complete recovery.

According to Kirkland’s friends, given appropriate medical assistance, the actress has a good chance of overcoming her current challenges and resuming her cherished career.

According to the GoFundMe page, it explains that various outside circumstances have exacerbated Kirkland’s predicament. It is said that adjustments to SAG-AFTRA’s healthcare plan for older members have allegedly hindered her from acquiring reasonably priced medical services.

Moreover, the financial crisis in 2007 greatly affected her wealth, diminishing a large portion of the savings and investments she had amassed at the pinnacle of her professional life.

Kirkland, who’s been single all her life and doesn’t have kids, doesn’t have the support system of family. Yet, her friends emphasize that despite these challenges, she’s consistently put others first, dedicating herself to her work, church, friendships, and community.

Sally Kirkland commenced her acting journey back in the 1960s and has since been involved in more than 300 productions. Among her most recognized roles are those in The Sting, Private Benjamin, JFK, Roseanne, Bruce Almighty, and Anna.

In 1988, she was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Independent Spirit Award for her exceptional performance in the movie “Anna”, all in the category of Best Actress.

Lately, Kirkland has been featured in the independent film titled Sallywood, which was helmed by director Xaque Gruber. In spite of her health challenges, she persists in her work.

I’m proudly participating in the GoFundMe campaign, which was initiated by my friends Paige Dylan, Coty Galloway, and Mel England, who hold Kirkland in high regard. They highlighted that Kirkland has consistently been a selfless and nurturing figure, bestowing guidance and encouragement to those within her circle.

The organizers noted that she had not only been a dear friend but also a nurturing presence, providing guidance, support, and affection at crucial moments. In their words, she was an endless wellspring of generosity, compassion, and indomitable spirit.

With heartfelt appreciation, the fundraising event is designed to provide Kirkland with the essential medical attention she requires promptly. The organizers are optimistic that Kirkland’s admirers and the wider community will unite in offering their support for the cherished actress as she navigates this difficult period.
