What Do Wyvern Eggs Do In Monster Hunter Wilds?

In Monster Hunter Wilds, just as in its other regions, there are hidden secrets that require keen observation to spot. Unlike before, certain common elements have become less obvious due to changes in the game mechanics. For instance, the appearance of Wyvern Eggs might seem peculiar given the absence of Gathering quests.

As a dedicated Monster Hunter Wilds fan, I remember the usual drill of collecting Wyvern Eggs in past games. But this time, tracking down these eggs feels like searching for a needle in a haystack! Here’s where to find Wyvern Eggs and what their purpose is in Monster Hunter Wilds.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, finding those elusive Wyvern Eggs can be tougher than hunting down the monsters themselves! But don’t worry; here’s a guide on where to find them and what they do.

Where Are Wyvern Eggs Found?

In Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s only one solitary Wyvern Egg tucked away, and that’s deep within the Scarlet Forest. You might stumble upon it incidentally while battling a Rathian in the Scarlet Forest and tracking it back to its nest. Alternatively, you can find it high up among the trees in Area 11. Multiple eggs could be present in the nest, or there might just be one.

Occasionally, you might find Rathian taking a rest here, or the nest could be completely empty. Alma will politely inform you about the Wyvern Eggs if you approach closely enough, indicating that you can take them. However, do so at your own risk as Rathian has strong protective instincts and will show up immediately once you pick up an egg. Delivering these eggs isn’t as straightforward as picking them up and storing them in your inventory. Instead, it’s a genuine task that requires careful handling.

How To Deliver Wyvern Eggs

After grabbing a Wyvern Egg, your movement becomes significantly sluggish and you’ll find yourself unable to consult the map menu. Be cautious though, as doing so will almost instantly summon a Rathian to your current location. It seems these creatures aren’t too fond of their eggs being taken from their nest.

As a passionate collector of Wyvern eggs, I must caution you about their delicate nature. A mere bump or jolt could cause them to crack and shatter. Even though my Hunter character is resistant to fall damage, the fragile egg in my grasp doesn’t share that trait. Jumping from heights too high will inevitably lead to the egg’s demise, so it’s wise to abstain from jumping altogether. Additionally, you can’t rely on your Seikret during this delicate task, leaving only your own feet as a means of transportation. Patience and careful movement are essential to ensure the eggs remain intact.

If it’s necessary, feel free to discard the Wyvern Egg marked as ‘Square’ or ‘X’, should you find yourself in a situation where you need to access the map or dodge a monster.

Before grabbing the Wyvern Egg, it’s advisable to first put on the Ghillie Mantle. This disguise makes nearby Rathians unable to spot you, including when you pick up the egg, regardless of your speed. Remember though, the mantle has a time limit. As soon as it wears off, Rathian will track your location instantly, regardless of how far from her nest you are.

Wyvern Eggs can exclusively be discovered in Area 11 of the Scarlet Forest. To efficiently transport it, you won’t need to retrace your steps back to Base Camp entirely, but you may stop at any Temporary Camps as well. Noteworthy, the Northeast Pop-Up Camp (Area 12) is nestled beneath the trees for convenient access. However, be cautious not to slip along the way!

As soon as you grab the Wyvern Egg, head north and carefully make your way down the vines to avoid a sudden fall. This will lead you to a tree below, where you’ll find an extended series of vines to descend further until you reach the ground level. Be cautious, as there are numerous smaller creatures nearby that may try to trip you up, so maneuver carefully around them.

If you manage to overcome the Rathian guarding the nest, then you can carry out the delivery of the Wyvern Egg in a calmer fashion, should that be preferable for you.

If you stick to this route without interruptions, you should find yourself with plenty of time to make it to the Pop-Up Camp before your Ghillie Mantle expires. To deliver the egg, all you need to do is get fairly near the tent, and in return, you’ll receive 50 Guild Points, a rather small reward for the amount of work put in. At least Alma will express her gratitude towards you.

There’s a good chance that the Rathian will pursue you all the way to your camping site, even if you’ve managed to evade them up until now. Keep in mind that your shelter might get damaged and another encounter could start immediately.
