What are Decorations & how to use them – Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter World, decorations (often referred to as jewels) play a crucial role and hold significant value within your character’s setup. These jewels serve to enhance your character by providing additional skill points. However, understanding the function of decorations can be challenging at first – not only knowing what they are but also how to equip them and where to obtain more.

What are Decorations

In Monster Hunter Worlds, you can adorn weapons and armor with various ornaments, each offering unique abilities similar to those on your armor. The rarer these ornaments are, the stronger their effects. You can determine a charm’s rarity by counting the number of triangles in its symbol.

How to get Decorations

In Chapter 2-4: Long-forgotten Flame, you’ll earn your first Decorations for successfully hunting the Nu Udra. From now on, completing any hunt provides a chance to receive Decorations as rewards. If you are fortunate enough to receive some, an Appraisal box will appear after the reward screen, revealing the jewels you’ve been awarded.


At the Melding Pot in Suja, you have the chance to create decorations. However, it’s more like a surprise box as the items you get are random. You can offer existing jewels to the pot, and in return, you’ll receive a randomly selected Weapon or Armor Decoration. Simply approach the vendor and choose the type of jewel you prefer: one for weapons or one for armor.

On the freshly opened screen, choose materials to offer for the progress bar on the left. Ensure you have accumulated at least 4 units before proceeding, as this is necessary to create a single gem. Once prepared, decide on what resources to relinquish and discover the reward that follows!

How to use/equip Decorations

You can place decorative items onto your weapons and armor via the “Change Equipment” screen within your tent. Keep an eye out for the small gem symbols next to your equipment. Remember that only gear of High Rank can accommodate these decorations. Therefore, while you may have acquired Decorations in Chapter 2, you won’t be able to use them until you’ve progressed and unlocked High Rank content.
