After completing its seventh season, ABC’s show “The Conners” formally concluded, and cast members shared which souvenirs they chose to keep from the set. PEOPLE dropped by the set in September during the final week of filming to speak with the stars about their heartfelt farewell and what treasured items they wanted to take with them.
John Goodman, who portrayed Dan Conner for almost four decades, mentioned that the cast had already been given a quilt as a memento. However, he also hinted at taking more souvenirs, stating, “I might sneakily take something before we wrap up today, perhaps some costumes.
When inquired about his practice of utilizing set costumes, he explained that he has received wardrobes as gifts from various productions in the past. Additionally, he used to receive an entire year’s worth of suits and shirts from Saturday Night Live. However, he mentioned that any Velcro parts needed to be secured with buttons instead.
Sara Gilbert, returning as Darlene Conner from Roseanne, was seeking something with a more personal touch. “One of the old photos of us as children that are displayed because they depict genuine moments of us,” she explained. Although sentimental items might not hold the same significance as memories, she plans to locate one.
Emma Kenney, who portrayed Darlene’s daughter Harris, has already snagged a small item from the set. “I picked up a mug from The Lunch Box a few days back. Now it’s sitting in my kitchen cabinet,” she revealed.
At the Lobo Lounge, Laurie Metcalf (who is recognized as Jackie Harris) playfully discussed with PEOPLE and Kenney about potential souvenirs. Metcalf joked about snatching something from the walls, saying, “I just might help myself to one right off the wall,” after Kenney mentioned his Lobo Lounge shirt. She confessed she didn’t have one herself and also hinted at another item she was considering stealing: “My blue coat with the fur. I’ve been wearing it for 30 years, and it could be a fun keepsake to take.
John Goodman expressed how difficult it was to part ways with the series, stating that he would feel its absence for some time. He acknowledged his age and admitted to being hesitant about embracing change. Looking back on their shared experiences, he noted that the past seven seasons had flown by, making it seem as if they had only begun filming the show a mere couple of weeks ago.
As a devoted admirer, let me share with you that Sara Gilbert mentioned they enjoyed countless moments of laughter on set. What made this special wasn’t just the cast, but the entire team – the crew, writers, and everyone in between – felt like an extended family. This experience held profound significance for us all, making it tough to even contemplate life without it.
