The much-awaited final season of Stranger Things is just about to start, and fans can hardly wait for any news. To reassure everyone, Joe Keery, the actor who portrays Steve Harrington, has given an optimistic update on the show’s production.
Speaking with TV Insider, Gaten Matarazzo shared that the team behind Stranger Things is putting in a lot of effort to complete season 5. “We’re making progress, we’re making progress,” he noted. “To be honest, I’m not exactly sure how far along we are. I’m a bit in the dark myself, but it’s been fantastic,” he continued.
In the initial season, Steve was frequently disliked and even despised by many viewers. However, over time, his character developed significantly and won over a lot of fans. When the Upside Down took control of Hawkins, it claimed another well-loved character, Eddie, portrayed by Joseph Quinn. As for Steve, it remains to be seen whether he will make it through to the end alive, as no definitive answer has been given yet.
In his interview, he expressed to the media that the cast shares the same eagerness with the viewers to discover how the final season will play out. He stated, “It’s been a while since the show has been off the air, and I can hardly wait, just like everyone else.”
Over a span of nine years and five series, Kerry developed a strong bond with the team, and he was overjoyed to reunite with his “friends” during the filming of the fifth season. To put it simply, he adores everyone in the group.
Apart from being indispensable on set, they have also played a significant role in Keery’s personal life, as the actor shared. By now, they feel like family. Therefore, he enjoys spending time with them, collaborating with them, and hopes that we can release this project soon for everyone to see.
Back in 2022, during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show, I confessed that I believed my character would meet its end by the close of the first season. But as fate would have it, my role evolved and grew, transforming into a vital part of the main cast come season 4.
During the Q2 Earnings Interview, the specific date when Stranger Things season 5 would be released was not disclosed. Nevertheless, actor Keery expressed optimism that it may come out faster than expected, stating, “I hope we can make this available to fans as soon as possible.”
