On Monday, I found myself being rushed to the hospital following an incident at my assisted living facility in New York. In a moment of distress, I had appealed for aid by writing a note and tossing it out my window.
At approximately 11:15 a.m., authorities were summoned for a welfare check following an incident involving the ex-talk show host (age 60). It’s said that she tossed a distressing note from her fifth-story suite, which read “Help! Wendy!!”. Officials have verified that officers responded to the call, and later, police escorted Williams out of the building and transported her in an ambulance.
In the care facility’s memory unit, where Williams, diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, resides, there has been an ongoing court-ordered guardianship since 2022. This is due to her claim that she can still make decisions for herself despite her condition. Her appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, asserts that Williams’ cognitive abilities are significantly impaired and that she is permanently disabled and incapacitated. However, in a recent conversation with TMZ, Williams referred to her living situation as a “prison.”
The event transpired mere days prior to when it was said Williams was scheduled to guest on The View this coming Friday. Suzanne Bass, a previous co-executive producer of The Wendy Williams Show, posted on Instagram that Williams had been readying herself for the program, but it remained unclear whether she would be there in person or via remote connection.
In spite of the ongoing court case, Williams has recently seen advancements in her campaign against guardianship. Notably, last month, Morrissey expressed a willingness to arrange for a fresh medical assessment of Williams, given her allegations.
At the moment, it’s undetermined what state Williams’ condition is in, and it’s unsure how this recent event may influence her legal endeavors.
