‘We’ll Try And Keep Them Away’: Josh Hartnett Reveals He Does Not Want His Kids To Take Up Acting

As an ardent fan, I can’t help but admire Josh Hartnett‘s dedication to his family and his thoughtful approach towards raising his children away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. His wisdom and insight into the industry are truly commendable, especially as a parent.

Actor Josh Hartnett, who plays in the latest movie “Trap” and is a father of four, prioritizes safeguarding his kids from Hollywood’s challenges. In an interview with PEOPLE, he revealed that him and his spouse, British actress Tamsin Egerton, keep their children out of the public limelight, preferring a tranquil life in rural England. They aim to keep work separate to ensure their kids have regular upbringings. Hartnett, aged 46, appreciates that while his kids know he’s an actor, they don’t fully grasp the intricacies of the business yet. He wishes to preserve this separation from the limelight for as long as feasible.

In the movie “Trap,” Harnett collaborated with filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, who happens to have a daughter named Saleja. Saleja portrayed the fictional pop star Lady Raven in the film. Interestingly, Shyamalan is the father of three daughters, one of whom, Ishana, is also a filmmaker. She made her industry debut as a director with the movie “The Watchers.”

Will Harnett support his kids if they wish to pursue acting?

In response to being questioned about his children potentially entering acting, Josh Harnett shared, “If they truly felt passionate about it, I suppose I would support them, but I wouldn’t actively promote the idea. Reflecting on his own career that began with Halloween H20: 20 Years Later in 1998, he expressed, “Although I don’t wish to oversimplify, I do believe the industry can be challenging for women, and I don’t want my children to experience that. Additionally, I feel the industry is tough on actors in general. We’re often left waiting for approval to perform our roles.”

Harnett expressed that, if his children aspired to become directors or musicians, he would make an effort to empathize with their choices. He was moved when Shyamalan worked alongside Saleka on the Trap project. Despite being uncertain about his kids’ future interests, he was committed to fostering a strong bond with them and encouraging their creative paths as they grew older.

Josh Hartnett expresses his feelings about his children growing up too quickly, stating, “I’d prefer they didn’t grow up so fast; I want them to remain my little, cuddly kids.” He revealed that his offspring are avid Taylor Swift fans and have recently taken an interest in horses. Hartnett shared that being a father has been rewarding, introducing him to new passions he may not have explored otherwise. As an example, he is now learning horseback riding alongside his children, who are currently captivated by the subject. At present, the film “Trap” is playing in cinemas.
