In an exclusive sneak peek, it was revealed that Pedro Pascal was initially the top pick to embody the main character. Unfortunately, his jam-packed schedule forced him to step aside, and Josh Brolin graciously stepped up to take on the role instead. I can’t wait to see how this talented actor brings the character to life when Weapons premieres!
Regarding the film, titled “Weapons,” it centers on an enigmatic occurrence in which every child from a local community vanishes simultaneously, causing great concern and panic among their parents.
Zach Cregger on replacing Pedro Pascal in the upcoming movie
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director of the upcoming thriller movie disclosed that the initial ensemble featured Pedro Pascal, Brian Tyree Henry, and Austin Abrams.
Due to unexpected Hollywood strikes and scheduling conflicts, particularly with Pedro Pascal, it became necessary to replace the original cast members with new ones. As Cregger explained, “I initially had a completely different cast for this film. The strike occurred, and then Pedro Pascal’s schedule caused chaos. In the end, I was forced to recast the entire movie.
The director explained that the delays caused by the strikes led to clashes in schedules, setting everything back to where it started. He emphasized that he holds no grudges against anyone involved. Instead, they kept experiencing one delay after another, creating a chain reaction that forced him to begin anew.
In another part of our discussion, the director mentioned that Pascal had to withdraw from the movie because of scheduling issues, which ultimately allowed Brolin to take on the role instead.
If the actor from The Last of Us had shot for the movie, it would’ve marked his fourth film appearance in a single year.
Weapons will hit theaters on August 8.
