As a dedicated hunter, I’ve discovered that vanquishing formidable foes like Guardian Rathalos, regular Rathalos, Rathian, Quematrice, or Yian Kut-Ku yields exceptional Fire-element weapons. For instance, subduing a Yian Kut-Ku grants access to craft the Kut-Ku Stave 1, a versatile Bow in our arsenal. Post-game content in Monster Hunter Wilds expands the possibilities, allowing for the creation of numerous Fire-infused weapons.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, Blangonga, Congalala, Jin Dahaad, Lala Barina, and Nerscylla are particularly vulnerable to Fire-based weaponry. Additionally, the Doshaguma, Gore Magala, Guardian Doshaguma, Gypceros, and Hirabami monsters also have a weakness towards Fire attacks. However, it’s important to note that most of the mentioned creatures are primarily weak against Fire attacks. Here’s how players can strategize when facing these beasts.
5. Blangonga
A Late Icy Addition
- Weakness: Fire and Thunder
In the narrative, Blangonga is introduced late in the game’s plot. Its key characteristic is an icy essence that makes it vulnerable to Fire and Thunder elements. However, it shows a slight resistance to Fire. To deal maximum damage with your fire-enhanced weapon, focus on striking its head or torso.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, Blangonga, though appearing later in high-ranking areas, isn’t typically challenging for players, except when fighting with Dragon or Ice elements. This is because it almost entirely nullifies these attacks. When encountered, Blangonga may be accompanied by smaller versions of itself. These miniature Blangongas can make the fight more difficult as they tend to obstruct rather than harm the player. Despite being relatively simple to defeat, Blangonga offers valuable gear for farming purposes.
4. Congalala
A Stinky Ape

- Weakness: Fire and Ice
In the realm of Monster Hunter Wilds, I’ve encountered a familiar face – Congalala, a beast that made its debut in the Japanese exclusive title, Monster Hunter 2. Unlike Blangonga, another monster from the same game, Congalala doesn’t have its unique element, but boy, does it pack a punch! This ape is a walking arsenal of active status effects, capable of poisoning, paralyzing, or even making players smell like a skunky swamp!
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the creature Congalala is vulnerable to both Fire and Ice elements, yet there’s only one spot on its body where players can exploit this vulnerability effectively. To maximize damage with Fire weapons, aim for the head. Upon first encountering Congalala, players can craft a Fire-based weapon using Quematrice parts. If players desire additional power, they should harvest that bird. However, if players manage to dodge its status-inducing breath attacks, Congalala shouldn’t pose much of a threat regardless of whether or not Fire weapons are used.
3. Jin Dahaad
Melt This Dragon Into A Puddle

- Weakness: Fire
In the world of Monster Hunter Wilds, Jin Dahaad is undeniably one of the largest monsters, if not the largest, and is also among the toughest adversaries you’ll face. Due to its massive size, players are tasked with pursuing it in an exhilarating battle, often joined by Support Hunters as part of the game’s narrative. Given that this colossal ice dragon dwells in the Iceshard Cliffs, it is clearly vulnerable to Fire-based attacks and weapons. Initially, battling Jin Dahaad might not seem too challenging, but the advanced version you’ll encounter in higher tiers of the game may leave even seasoned players feeling quite frustrated.
Attack the head with fire and you should have a good chance, as long as players evade its charges or ice blasts. Every space the creature moves into will have weak supports that could fall. If Jin Dahaad stands under one of these collapsible areas, players can detonate them using their grappling hooks. The longer fight will be if players miss every setup opportunity. Essentially, it’s a long-term battle no matter what.
2. Lala Barina
Set That Rose Ablaze

- Weakness: Fire
In the video game Monster Hunter Wilds, Lala Barina is a massive spider-like creature. Interestingly, in reality, spiders are repelled by fire – though there’s no shoe aspect in this game, perhaps it could be considered for future updates. However, humor aside, Fire is Lala Barina’s only vulnerability, so aim precisely and effectively at its head or rosy posterior to ignite this creature.
Keep in mind that Lala Barina doesn’t possess any unique traits, but beware as it can induce status effects such as Paralysis, something undesirable in an RPG setting. The creature releases buds from its abdomen, scattering the area with radiant orange petals. To avoid instant shock, players should navigate through these petals. This is relatively simple if you approach combat using a ranged weapon like a Bow. In this game, Bows are beneficial as they simplify battles, regardless of whether they inflict elemental damage or not.
1. Nerscylla
Another Spider Ready To Get Burned

- Weakness: Fire and Thunder
In the Monster Hunter Wilds game, Nerscylla is another spider character, similar to Lala Barina, but unlike her, Nerscylla appears to be rather old. Nerscylla first appeared on the 3DS in Japan back in 2013 with Monster Hunter 4, and this early version of Nerscylla was slightly more challenging. If players are mindful of avoiding its webbing, however, Nerscylla can almost be considered a walkover. Interestingly, Nerscylla has two weaknesses: Fire and Thunder. However, the Thunder element is not particularly effective against it.
Thunder attacks on Nerscylla will only be successful if aimed at the claws or belly (with the belly dealing more damage). However, fire damage is not blocked at all, making it the most effective choice. Players can increase their damage output by targeting the torso, front legs, stinger, or mantle. Despite its eerie appearance, players need not fear Nerscylla or its offspring in the nest.
