As a die-hard fan of “Only Murders in the Building,” I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming season! Having grown up in sunny California, I always felt a pang of nostalgia whenever the show took me back to New York City, but now that the trio is heading to Hollywood, it feels like they’re bringing a piece of my childhood home to me.
In a short while, we’ll get to see the new installment of “Only Murders in the Building”. The team behind the series has given us a peek at what lies ahead in season 4 and how it sets itself apart from its predecessors.
At the debut of their series, Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, along with showrunner John Hoffman, expressed enthusiasm for filming the upcoming episodes in Hollywood.
The upcoming Hulu series trailer unveils that the beloved detective trio consisting of Mabel Mora, Charles Hayden Savage, and Oliver are set to tackle yet another intricate murder case. Moreover, viewers can anticipate watching these characters venture into Hollywood following an offer for a film adaptation of their podcast.
Over the last three seasons, Only Murders in the Building has garnered a positive response from viewers and was honored with an Emmy Award. As we move forward to the next season, both familiar faces and fresh characters are set to make their appearance.
At the recent premiere event, Gomez and her fellow stars spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about their upcoming season, which is due out next week. They hinted that there will be fresh aspects for viewers to discover. The artist-songstress commented, “Of course, we have a talented cast and we’re headed to Hollywood.” She added, “It was exciting to film here for a moment.”
Besides the actress’s comments, Steve Martin also shared that coming back to Los Angeles, a place where he became an actor after growing up, felt invigorating for him. Similarly, Short has resided in this city for quite some time as well.
Similarly, Hoffman voiced his opinions. The mastermind behind the thriller-comedy asserted that since the season’s murder victim was actually a stunt double, it provided an ideal moment for him to venture into Hollywood.
He expressed, “Hollywood seemed appealing for a brief spell, given the circumstances, but ultimately, we’re firmly rooted as a New York show, so we’ll always return to our roots.”
In Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building, the storyline centers around Sazz Pataki, Charles’ stunt double, who meets a tragic end at the start of the season. As the trio delves into uncovering the identity of the murderer, they harbor suspicions that the culprit might be targeting Charles. However, it is ultimately revealed that Pataki was the one who was killed.
Additionally, the following actors are now part of the group: Molly Shannon, Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, Zack Galifianakis, Richard Kind, and Kumail Nanjiani. Meryl Streep will once again play Loretta Dunkin in this production.
The Only Murders in the Building season 4 will premiere on August 27 on Hulu.
