According to a reliable source speaking to Cosmic Book News during Comic-Con, Warner Bros. was so taken by Jason Momoa‘s portrayal of Lobo that they have decided to expand his character’s part in the upcoming Supergirl film.
According to an inside source, executives were highly impressed with what they witnessed and promptly decided to increase Jason Momoa’s appearance as Lobo in the movie.
It’s still unclear if there will be a Lobo spinoff starring Jason Momoa, but this potential project implies that Warner Bros. has high hopes for Momoa as Lobo and intends to showcase the DC Universe’s main character more frequently in upcoming projects.
Initially, Lobo was meant to feature in the “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” comic book series, but his appearance was removed from the story by DC Comics editor following a suggestion from writer Tom King, who now advises on the DC Universe. However, it seems that both Tom King and James Gunn have chosen to reinstate Lobo in the upcoming movie, which appears to be a shrewd decision. The inclusion of Lobo provides a masculine edge to the female-led superhero film genre, a category that, with the exception of Zack Snyder’s first “Wonder Woman,” hasn’t had much success so far.

Momoa on Lobo: “He’s Rough, Gruff, and the Bike’s Cool”
Previous leaked reports give us our initial glimpse of Jason Momoa as Lobo, a character he’s thrilled about playing.
On Jimmy Kimmel, I shared my take on Jason Momoa’s portrayal of Lobo: “He cruises around on a motorbike, puffs on cigars, and enjoys a pint of Guinness – and with that mane of dreadlocks, he’s just irresistible!
During another conversation, Momoa mentioned, “I’d rather not reveal too many details, but let me tell you, we resemble the character closely, and he’s quite rough and grumpy. As for the bike, it’s truly amazing.
Supergirl flies into theaters June 2026
The movie titled “Supergirl” is scheduled for release in theaters on June 26, 2026. It’s been directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira.
Milly Alcock portrays Kara Zor-El, the character known as Supergirl, whom Gunn describes as being more severe compared to Clark, due to her upbringing on a rougher Kryptonian planet.
I’m thrilled to be sharing that in this production, I step into the shoes of Ruthye Marye Knoll, while Matthias Schoenaerts takes on the menacing role of Krem of the Yellow Hills, our antagonist. David Krumholtz portrays Zor-El, and Emily Beecham brings Alura to life. Lastly, Jason Momoa breathes life into Lobo.
