Watch Timothée Chalamet Show Up to His Own Lookalike Contest

As a lifelong film enthusiast who has witnessed the meteoric rise of Timothée Chalamet from indie darling to Hollywood heartthrob, I must say that this past weekend’s Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest in New York City was an absolute spectacle. The sheer number of people who turned out, all hoping to emulate the charismatic charm of their beloved idol, was truly astounding.

Is it just that Timothée Chalalmet has one of those universally recognizable faces? Many people indeed seem to bear a striking resemblance to the star of both ‘Dune’ and ‘Wonka’, as suggested by popular YouTuber Anthony Po. To prove this point, he organized a lookalike contest for Timothée Chalamet in Washington Square Park, New York City over the last weekend of October. The event attracted massive crowds, and surprisingly, the actor himself made an appearance, bringing joy to his numerous fans. Here’s a clip of Timothée Chalamet at his own lookalike contest:

In New York, they promoted a “Timothée Chalamet doppelganger” event extensively using numerous flyers and a Partiful invitation that attracted thousands of RSVPs. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Partiful ended up co-sponsoring the event, providing $50 cash prizes to each participant. However, Anthony Po was fined $500 for organizing an unauthorized costume contest in Washington Square Park. Despite this, it seems all the attention generated was worthwhile. Interestingly, one of the Timothée Chalamet lookalikes was detained for causing a disturbance, but Anthony Po later helped secure their release.

The winner of the contest was someone by the name of Miles Mitchell. Like most contestants, he dressed up as the Willy Wonka version of Timothée Chalamet. Judging from the brief video we saw, it seems Wonka was the overall number one choice among the legion of Chalamets. We’re actually relieved it wasn’t someone looking like Chalamet in Call Me By Your Name. That movie has too much potential for disturbing costume props. (I’ve you’ve seen the film, you know what we mean). Given the mild chaos of this event, will there be a Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest, take two? If so, we’re rooting for the Paul Atreides Dune Chalamet this time.
