Watch this CHEERS Compilation of Every Norm Entrance George Wendt Made

This week, at the age of 76, we mourn the passing of actor George Wendt, who was best known for his role as “Norm” in the beloved ’80s/90s sitcom Cheers. Coincidentally, May 20th marked the 32nd anniversary of Cheers’ final episode airing. One of the show’s most memorable recurring jokes was the simultaneous shout of “Norm!” as he entered the bar for a drink, welcoming Cheers’ longest-standing patron. Recently, we found out that Peacock has put together an 18-minute video featuring every single “Norm!” entrance from all eleven seasons of Cheers on NBC.

As a devoted fan, I’d love to share some exciting insights about my favorite character, Norm Peterson, from the legendary show “Cheers.” This comprehensive collection encompasses every single time Norm gracefully strolled into the bar across all 275 episodes that George Wendt brought him to life. Norm was always ready with a clever one-liner upon entering, which made him an endearing fixture on the series.

Wendt’s remarkable portrayal of Norm Peterson earned him six Emmy Award nominations, demonstrating the impact and popularity he had among viewers. Despite his impressive resume that includes films, TV shows, and even Broadway performances, it’s his role as Norm, the man with an ever-flowing tab at the bar, that resonates most deeply with fans.

Did you know? Norm’s iconic presence was so strong that the creators of “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” paid tribute by naming one of their recurring characters “Morn,” inspired by none other than our beloved Norm!

As a dedicated fan of the ’90s, I’ve always held “Cheers” in high regard among sitcoms. Surprisingly, it didn’t get a revival in this streaming age, even though its spin-off “Frasier” did. Occasionally, network executives suggested a comeback, but the original cast members never seemed keen on revisiting their roles. With the unfortunate passing of Kirstie Alley, the idea of a “Cheers” revival now feels disrespectful and out of place. After all, how can you imagine “Cheers” without Norm? It just wouldn’t feel right.
