WATCH: Sabrina Carpenter’s Music Video Taste Ft Scream Queen Jenna Ortega Is A Bloodbath You Don’t Want To Miss

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for pop culture and a heart that beats for the drama of Hollywood, I must say, the latest music video by Sabrina Carpenter titled “Taste” is nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The video’s dark comedy and revenge elements, reminiscent of classic films like Death Becomes Her and Kill Bill, have certainly piqued my interest.

Sabrina Carpenter finds herself embroiled in a heated dispute with Jenna Ortega – the partner of a former boyfriend who appears alongside her in the music video for ‘Taste’, one of the tracks off her album titled ‘Short n’ Sweet’. This song expresses the turbulent emotions of jealousy and insecurity that arise when an ex-lover begins dating someone new, stirring up dormant feelings and explosions of anger.

In the music video, the sequences draw inspiration from iconic Hollywood films such as the dark comedy “Death Becomes Her,” starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, and the revenge thriller “Kill Bill” featuring Uma Thurman. Carpenter and Ortega engage in an unending, gruesome battle, ranging from torturing voodoo dolls to resorting to stabbings, shootings, and decapitations.

The video starts with the Please Please Please singer arranging her weapons on a bed and picking the one she’d use to murder her ex’s girlfriend (Ortega). She stabs a dummy figure instead and finds Ortega pointing a gun at her. “Heard you’re back together and if that’s true. You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissing you” plays in the background.

In the music video, the popular artist is shown being pierced by a fence, torched, and having an arm severed by Ortega. At the same time, Ortega’s eye is stabbed, and she sustains broken bones when Carpenter harms her voodoo doll in a cruel manner.

The video takes an unexpected turn when Ortega unintentionally kills her boyfriend, implying that he was ultimately the one to blame. At his funeral, the girls share their experiences of their ex’s toxic characteristics. “He was incredibly insecure!” Ortega remarks. “Incredibly insecure!” Carpenter laughs darkly. “You killed me.”

The song “Taste” is the third release from pop star’s sixth studio album titled “Short n’ Sweet.” This new album is a sequel to her previous work called “Emails I Can’t Send.” Previously, the singles “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” also from the latest album, have gained massive popularity online and set records, making them some of Carpenter’s most successful songs ever!

In a recent chat with Variety, the artist known as Nonsense hinted at the atmosphere of her upcoming album. “I’m drawn to the expressions from the ’60s and ’90s – that classic Hollywood glamour, playful and lively. This is undoubtedly the feel of my record,” she shared then.

On Wednesdays actress is excited about upcoming projects too, such as the much-awaited Beetlejuice sequel by Tim Burton. In this movie, she portrays the role of Astrid, who is the daughter of the legendary Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder. This star-studded production is set to premiere in cinemas on September 6th.
