Watch Mon Mothma’s Intense ANDOR Dance Scene for an Entire Hour

The Star Wars galaxy, as we’ve long recognized from the cantina band in “A New Hope” and Jabba’s palace in “Return of the Jedi,” boasts music reminiscent of Earth jazz and disco. However, with episode 3 of “Andor” season two, we’ve discovered a new musical genre – EDM. This revelation came about when Senator Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) was seen enjoying an upbeat dance track at her daughter’s wedding in that episode. Many fans have found themselves drawn to this music. Intriguingly, the official Star Wars channel has shared a video of Mon dancing to this song for an entire hour, which you can now watch right here:

On the distant planet Chandrilla, weddings span over a period of three days. Yet, they conclude with quite a spectacle. Truly, who hasn’t felt like Mon Mothma in this scene at some point in their lives? We’ve all likely gotten a bit too carried away by celebrations and made questionable moves on the dance floor. Indeed, Mon found solace from her concerns on the dance floor during this episode. It was at her daughter’s wedding that she recognized the gravity of the situation for herself and the Rebellion.

In an interview with Vulture, O’Reilly explained the dance scene like this: “This is a woman who is dancing to keep from shouting. She’s expressing the turmoil in her mind physically at that moment. It’s necessary.” Fans of Star Wars will remember that Mon Mothma eventually leads the Rebel Alliance, serving as their symbolic leader in the struggle against the Empire. So it’s fitting that she got to dance a little at a fancy gathering before her more serious responsibilities set in.
