As a lifelong fan of both horror movies and video games, I can hardly contain my excitement for the latest addition to the Mortal Kombat universe – Ghostface! Growing up watching the Scream series, I’ve always been intrigued by the mysterious identity behind that iconic mask. Now, seeing him unleash his stabtastic glory in Mortal Kombat 1 is a dream come true!
“Which horror film do you most enjoy?” We can only imagine Ghostface posing this question to characters like Sub-Zero or other Mortal Kombat fighters. However, we can’t help but hope it happens! The notorious killer from the Scream series is joining Mortal Kombat 1, and NetherRealm Studios has shared a video showcasing his gameplay in all its bloodcurdling detail. In fact, it would be more accurate to say that Ghostface represents thirteen distinct, witty, and sardonic killers. Still, who are we to argue? Take a look at three minutes of Ghostface’s gameplay from Mortal Kombat 1 in the video below:
The video initiates with a lethal scene unfolding, followed by a camera angle that gradually withdraws from a television monitor. It is revealed that Johnny Cage is playing Mortal Kombat 1. Suddenly, Ghostface strikes again, causing Johnny Cage immense pain and bloodshed. But which Ghostface character appears in this game? Could it be the original Ghostface killers, Billy Loomis and Stu Macher? Or could it be our surprise choice, Roman Bridger, who has amassed nine kills in Scream 3 and seems capable of causing havoc within the Mortal Kombat universe.
There’s a strong likelihood that it’s Roger L. Jackson, the voice actor for Ghostface, lending his voice in the game. Officially, Ghostface makes an appearance in Mortal Kombat 1, as part of the expansion pack called Khaos Reigns, which will be available on November 19th. The game is also going to feature other popular culture figures such as the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Conan the Barbarian, who will soon join the action as additional guest characters. Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns is slated for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
