The first five minutes of Stranger Things season 5 immediately throws viewers back to the very beginning, with a spooky and unsettling start.
Fans relived the beginning of the story during a virtual premiere party, revisiting 1983 – the year Will Byers, portrayed by Noah Schnapp, first vanished and changed life in Hawkins forever.
The episode, called “The Crawl,” begins in the frightening forest of the Upside Down. Will is by himself, scared, and taking cover in a small fort when he hears a strange cracking sound. A Demogorgon quickly appears, and he’s forced to run. The creature eventually pulls him into Vecna’s shadowy hideout, where flashes of red lightning illuminate the scene.
Jamie Campbell Bower’s character, Vecna, appears from the darkness, moving toward Will, who is tangled in vines. “At long last, we can begin,” Vecna says, forcing a vine into Will’s mouth. He continues, promising, “You and I, we’re going to do such beautiful things together.”
Following the frightening start to events, Vecna vanishes, throwing the heroes into chaos. Things get even worse when the government puts Hawkins under military quarantine.

As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance nears, a sense of fear returns. A final, dangerous confrontation is coming—one that will be more powerful and deadly than anything the group has experienced before. To finally resolve this crisis, everyone will need to unite for one last stand.
According to co-creator Ross Duffer, the fifth season of the show will immediately jump into the action and build suspense. He explained that while previous seasons started by showing the characters’ everyday lives before introducing the supernatural, this season will be different, starting at a much faster pace.
Matt Duffer explained that life in Hawkins has become far from ordinary. He said that the town is under heavy surveillance with cameras everywhere, and people’s movements are limited, meaning everyday life is anything but normal for its residents.
Viewers can anticipate learning much more about the Upside Down in the upcoming season. The creators, the Duffer brothers, have revisited a detailed 25-page outline of its history that they originally created during the first season. According to Ross Duffer, some of the remaining mysteries from that document will be revealed in Season 5, and these revelations will be central to the season’s plot.
The first half of Stranger Things season 5, consisting of four episodes, will become available on November 26th at 5 PM Pacific Time, letting fans immediately jump into the beginning of the story and see what happens next.
