It was so lovely watching the BBC show Cynthia. They showed her some old photos from when she was a student, and she was clearly involved in all the school productions – Guys and Dolls, Bugsy Malone, even My Fair Lady! Then, the really sweet part – she walked in on a group of students rehearsing ‘For Good’ from Wicked. They were understandably starstruck and peppered her with questions. When one of them asked about her most rewarding moment as a two-time Oscar nominee, she said it was right then, standing in front of them at her old school. She explained that being able to share her experiences with the next generation was what truly mattered to her.
The most emotional part of the video is definitely when Cynthia Erivo sings “For Good” with the children. One of the girls simply asked her to sing, and thankfully, she agreed! “For Good” is a moving song on its own, but hearing Cynthia sing it with these young girls – girls who share the same dreams she had growing up, in the very place she once pursued them – is incredibly powerful. It’s impossible not to get a little teary-eyed. Here at TopMob, we certainly didn’t stand a chance!
