I, Ryan Reynolds, jokingly shared during an interview on the Jess Cagle radio show that Taylor Swift took legal action against me for featuring her beloved cats in Deadpool 2. Prior to the premiere of Deadpool and Wolverine, I playfully spoke about Swift’s reaction to discovering her felines gracing the big screen.
The actor disclosed that the felines on Ryan Reynold’s t-shirt were none but Olivia and Meredith, the beloved pets of the music legend. This Grammy-winning artist has a close bond with Reynolds and his spouse, Blake Lively. They frequently socialize with the singer known as “Karma.”
I’ve worked as a talent manager for several years now, and I’ve seen my fair share of PR disasters. One that comes to mind is the time when “The Proposal” actor was accused of using Swift’s cats in his movie without her permission. When a journalist brought this up during an interview, the actor nonchalantly admitted that he hadn’t asked for her approval. Big mistake.
Taylor Swift sued Ryan Reynolds over featuring her cats in Deadpool 2
During an interview with radio host Cagle, the well-known actor admitted that it would have been better if he had asked Taylor Swift for permission before using her cats, Meredith and Olivia, in Deadpool 2. Reynolds mentioned, “I did indeed create a T-shirt. I did put images of her cats, Meredith and Olivia, on Wade’s shirt.” He went on to explain, “It was just minor details, nothing more.”
Cagle promptly inquired of the actor whether he had obtained approval from the pop star prior to their collaboration, to which the Marvel star responded negatively and quipped about this supposedly being the cause for his legal troubles.
The actor asserted, “I stood to lose it all in that incident.” Meanwhile, Reynolds jokingly commented about having formidable legal representation. However, he later discovered that they were merely paralegals, and the actual lawyers paid no attention to the case.
In all seriousness, the IF actor shared that he wouldn’t dream of doing something like that without first obtaining his close friend’s approval. This spring, Reynolds and his spouse were among the fortunate fans to attend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour performance in Madrid.
