‘Was Disappointed But…’: Andrew Garfield On Jacob Elordi Replacing Him In Upcoming Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood happenings, I must say that Andrew Garfield‘s grace and humility in the face of a role change are truly commendable. His ability to put aside personal disappointment and support his successor speaks volumes about his maturity and professionalism.

At the 2024 Red Sea International Film Festival, Andrew Garfield made an appearance to discuss his forthcoming ventures, namely The Magic Faraway Tree and After The Hunt. According to Deadline’s report, during his talk, he also shed light on Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, where he previously had a role but was later replaced by Jacob Elordi who gained fame from Euphoria.

The actor from Tick Tick Boom shared that he felt a sense of regret, as he was excited about the opportunity to collaborate with Oscar Issac, Guillermo, and the rest of the cast. “Naturally, I’m let down that I didn’t get the chance,” he expressed.

After his encounter with Elordi, it turned out to be a fortunate event as he could witness him excel in the role. “It felt like fate running into Jacob,” he shared, “as I could sense and hear that perhaps the part was more suitable for him than for me.” He expressed further, “I’m extremely happy that it was him taking on the task.

If someone other than Frankenstein takes the Oscar nod, they’ll join an illustrious cast in the film version of The Magic Faraway Tree, which is based on the beloved Enid Blyton children’s book.

The aforementioned production, penned by Simon Farnaby – known for his work on “Paddington” and “Wonka” – boasts an impressive cast that includes Claire Foy, Rebecca Ferguson, Jennifer Saunders, Nicola Coughlan, Nonso Anozie, and Jessica Gunning.

At the RSIFF press conference, Garfield playfully praised the film as boasting an exceptional ensemble of peculiar, humorous, and dramatic actors. The narrative unfolds around a contemporary family who are compelled to move to a secluded countryside, where they stumble upon a mystical tree that supports a multitude of quirky inhabitants.

In the story, the actors known for Spider-Man and Foy are depicted as parents to the three kids who uncover a magical tree and serve as the narrative’s core. Enid Blyton was a well-loved author in Europe, but her classic children’s books may not be as recognized in America. Garfield aims to ensure that these timeless tales and thematic books resonate universally across all territories.

The actor expressed great enthusiasm, saying, “I believe many Americans, who haven’t yet encountered these books and characters, will develop a love for all things British in a similar way they fell for Paddington. I also think Asian countries will be utterly thrilled by it.
