On May 22, 2025, Caged Element’s car combat game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, titled Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks, will officially leave Early Access and launch its version 1.0 on PC. This release coincides with a shift in publishers from Plaion to Wired Productions.
During Early Access, Speed Freeks was offered free of charge for approximately 250,000 players who assisted in testing the game prior to its official launch. These testers will continue to enjoy the game at no cost following the full release. With the full release, the game will eliminate all microtransactions and transition to a traditional buy-to-play model, offering downloadable content packs as an additional feature.
The in-game store featuring the premium currency Teef (earned or purchased during Early Access) will remain accessible to players, allowing them to spend their remaining balance. However, this access will only last for a year following the game’s release; after that, the shop will no longer be available to anyone.
As a passionate enthusiast, I can’t help but express my excitement as we embarked on the journey to create the ultimate Warhammer 40,000 game. During our early access phase, countless supporters joined us in reaching this ambitious goal, alongside our previous publisher Plaion. Now, with Wired Productions taking over, we’re thrilled to be leaving early access and launching into version 1.0 using a new strategy that we believe players will find refreshing and enjoyable. We extend our gratitude to both partners for their unwavering commitment to the game, as well as Games Workshop. It’s a joy to be reunited with Wired Productions, having collaborated with them on GRIP before. Now, let’s get ready to rumble! (WAAAGH!!!)
Paul Jeal from Plaion expressed hope for nothing but success for Caged Element and Wired Productions, while Leo Zullo from Wired Productions thanked Plaion for the amicable and well-managed transition.
The effort put into Early Access, which was significantly influenced by player input, has been massive. We at Wired are excited as can be to reunite with our friends at Caged Element. The launch is merely the start; we have grand schemes and numerous surprises in store for you.
Speed Freeks” is a multiplayer game that blends the excitement of racing and the thrill of vehicular combat. However, since we’re discussing Orks, all the vehicles are improvised contraptions with unique traits.
During the forthcoming Warhammer Skulls event, where we’ll hear news and updates about various Warhammer games, we can expect the release of the game “Speed Freeks”.
