As an ardent fan of Young Sheldon and a self-proclaimed bibliophile myself, I find Raegan Revord’s journey utterly inspiring! Her dedication to literature, her passion for nurturing young minds through Read with Raegan, and her impending debut as an author at such a tender age are nothing short of remarkable.
Did you realize that the actress who plays Missy Cooper on the popular show Young Sheldon, Raegan Revord, is an avid reader? Not only does she love books, but she also hosts book clubs and is set to publish her first book – all before reaching the age of 17.
Growing up, I was fortunate to be immersed in a family filled with educators and bibliophiles, which meant an endless supply of books at our disposal. It was this rich literary environment that sparked my lifelong passion for reading. As I look back, I can trace the roots of my bookworm status to those early days.
Additionally, she shared that starting a book club serves the purpose of discovering captivating narratives that entice individuals to set aside their smartphones. In her words, “I aim to find stories with compelling initial hooks and diverse characters, allowing readers to recognize themselves and empathize with different people in each tale.”
After the final episode of Young Sheldon airs in May 2024, Raegan (the actress) remains active as founder of Read with Raegan, an online book club specifically for young readers. This platform was established in 2019, where she selects a fresh book every month and encourages participants to read together. Once everyone has finished reading, they can join online discussions about the books.
Over the last two years, Revord has curated a mix of books suitable for both adults and young adults. This selection includes acclaimed works like “The Rabbit Hutch” by Tess Gunty and the YA thriller “Thieves’ Gambit” by Kayvion Lewis, which have been enjoyed by members of her book club.
Next year, in 2025, you can expect the publication of “Revord’s Book”. This heartwarming novel tells the story of a teenager who partners with a new companion to finish a scavenger hunt that was left behind by her deceased mother. If you enjoy romance novels such as Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, then this book is right up your alley!
During an interview with PEOPLE, Revord expressed that prior to her acting career, she had a strong passion for writing. When she inked the deal with her publishing house for her first book, it stirred deep emotions within her.
Apart from sharing insights about her performances, she additionally talked about managing acting and scriptwriting. In the set of Young Sheldon, she admitted to writing during breaks by concealing her laptop amidst the plush upholstery of the Cooper family’s couch when the cameras started recording.
We can’t wait to see all that this talented artist has in store for us!
