During filming for The White Lotus‘s third season and episode 3, Walton Goggins encountered one of his deepest phobias – he was bitten by a snake. This accomplished actor, known for his captivating performances, experienced this unexpected incident.
Known for playing Rick in The White Lotus, Goggins disclosed that after a snake bite, he sought medical attention. This event occurred during a scene where his character was depicted as being under the influence of drugs, causing chaos at a snake show by recklessly opening the enclosures of various reptiles.
On the most recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor from the Amazon Prime’s Fallout series explained that he doesn’t technically have a phobia, but when it comes to snakes, there seems to be a gap or absence. He went on to say that he is extremely frightened of snakes and something within him appears to be genetically flawed regarding these reptiles.
As I reminisced, I couldn’t help but remember the guide leading me through each enclosure housing the snakes, and sharing insights about those venomous ones. In my own words, let me tell you about my prior encounter – the entire time, all I could think was, “The first cage, the one that could potentially take your life – ‘keep it closed.'” This was as Walton Goggins shared his personal account of his visit.
While filming, whenever he heard a loud noise, he kept reminding himself not to open the first box. He was also considering the color and size of the other snakes, along with the potential danger of their bites, causing him to feel anxious.
As he became frantic, the actor from Justified drew out a green snake that clearly disliked human contact. During an interview with the host, Walton Goggins explained that when he was removing the snake, it didn’t want to be disturbed and ended up biting him after turning away.
While the production team attended to Walton Goggins’ injury using Neosporin, the following day, the producer requested him to visit a local hospital for a check-up. This suggestion initially alarmed the actor, as he feared he was approaching death, but the producer was merely seeking a tetanus shot as a precautionary measure.
