Writer-director Rian Johnson is back with another whodunit. Wake Up Dead Man will see Daniel Craig’s brilliant detective trying to solve the murder of a monsignor. But this mystery will pose a problem not even Blanc has encounter before. Here’s the synopsis from Netflix for Wake Up Dead Man to go with its trailer:
Benoit Blanc is back for another thrilling murder mystery, and this one is his most challenging yet. When a young priest arrives to help a powerful and controversial Monsignor, things quickly seem amiss. The church’s small group of followers includes a dedicated churchgoer, a quiet groundskeeper, a tense lawyer, an ambitious politician, the town doctor, a famous author, and a talented cellist. After a shocking and inexplicable murder, the local police chief teams up with the celebrated detective Benoit Blanc to solve a baffling mystery with no clear answers.
The cast is solid, and the story idea is interesting – a bit of a dark miracle, actually. It works well for a murder mystery set in a church.
The big questions are: who murdered the Monsignor, how did they do it, and what was their motive? We suspect someone might have been envious of his style! Detective Benoit Blanc will unravel this seemingly impossible mystery in theaters on November 26th, and then it will be available to stream on Netflix starting December 12th.
