Wrap party teases cosmic setting

Eleven days back, a team member posted an Instagram photo from the wrap party, showcasing a backdrop themed after Voltron, complete with planets, galaxies, and asteroids – suggesting that the movie will take place in a cosmic and intergalactic setting. In the animated series, it’s the Voltron Force who safeguard Planet Arus, ruled by Princess Allura, from the wicked King Zarkon.

The movie, directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, now looks to have moved into post-production.

Cast reveals “Galran Emperor”

Although the actors have been chosen, the specific parts they’ll play are still a secret. It’s speculated that the newer actors will handle the main roles as the Lions, while the more experienced ones will assume supporting or leading positions.

As a cinephile eagerly anticipating the upcoming film, I’m thrilled to share that the star-studded cast includes Henry Cavill, who was recently spotted Down Under with his loved ones. Rita Ora, rumored to portray Haggar the Witch, is also on board. We have Sterling K. Brown, Alba Baptista, fresh off her on-set moments with her husband Chris Evans, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Samson Kayo, John Kim, Tharanya Tharan, Laura Gordon, and Tim Griffin completing this impressive ensemble.

IMDB verifies that Roberto Zenca takes on the role of the Galran Emperor, who is none other than Emperor Zarkon in the mythology. He is the merciless leader of the Galra Empire and the primary adversary in the original Voltron series. Additionally, Matthew Scully has been cast as a “Galran Officer.

Reimagined Voltron for the live-action world

Details about the storyline remain under wraps, but director Rawson Marshall Thurber has previously hinted that the upcoming movie is a modern adaptation of the classic “Voltron” series set in the real world. The film promises to introduce a fresh group of pilots, with Thurber suggesting that it will preserve the essential elements that made the 1980s show so popular.

Thurber shared, “I’ve been a fan of Voltron since my childhood days, and I’ve dreamt of making this movie ever since I was eight. Now, to actually bring Voltron to life is an incredible experience! We’ve modernized Voltron for the live-action realm, but we’re committed to preserving the essence and the magic of Voltron that you cherish – the elements that I adore.

He added:

“It’s taken us forty years to get here, but I promise you it will be worth the wait.”

What Else Do We Know?

Initial sketches for Thurber’s production outlined significant settings destined for the movie, such as the “Communal Area,” the “Strategic Room,” the “Hall of Valor,” and undeniably, the Lions themselves.
