Having grown up idolizing strong female characters on screen, seeing Davis step into this powerful role as President Danielle Sutton feels like a dream come true.

Viola Davis will take on the character of U.S. President Danielle Sutton in the upcoming action thriller “G20”, premiering on Prime Video on April 10, 2025. This film, directed by Patricia Riggen, brings Davis into the limelight as she portrays President Sutton dealing with a critical assault during the G20 summit of world leaders.

The narrative revolves around Sutton, who manages to elude capture, using her intelligence and bravery to shield her loved ones, her nation, and world leaders present. Davis found his role a fulfillment of a childhood aspiration, embodying what he called the “most heroic character” conceivable – a war veteran transformed into a progressive president.

At the Red Sea Film Festival, Davis highlighted that even though the film touches upon some contemporary political issues, its main intention is to offer an exciting and enjoyable viewing experience.

The movie boasts an impressive ensemble with Davis joined by the likes of Anthony Anderson portraying her husband Derek, Marsai Martin as their daughter Serena, and Christopher Farrar as their son Demetrius. Additionally, you’ll see Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, Clark Gregg, and Antony Starr in key roles. Notably, Antony Starr, famously known for his role as Homelander in The Boys, will be taking on the character of Rutledge.

The producers for this project include Davis, Julius Tennon, and Andrew Lazar.
